It's also a pretty common Hawaiian type breakfast as well as something served by Chinese-Americans where I live as an everyday breakfast except they will add more traditional fried rice ingredients like peas etc.
ETA: My dad was in Hawaii for a year during his 20 year USMC stint and he learned to love eggs over fried rice with bacon, coffee, and toast. He made it for us as kids quite often. Bradders, it's just long-grain white rice. You could also use Jasmine rice if its easier to find in the UK. Quote HistoryQuoted:

I love eggs and rice. My wife and 10 yr old daughter does too. Bacon, sausage, or both. A little hot sauce is good on the side as well. Pure win.
Unfortunately, we have cut down on white rice and try to eat brown rice. Man, it just ain't the same. I do have to try it with the onions. |
