I took my work (law firm) email off my smart phone.   Now I answer emails when I am at the office, period.   I've let my clients know this.   No one has freaked out.   And, its been a massive quality of life improvement.   Turns out if the clients know they can reach you on Saturday morning with their emergency they've known about for a month and need fixed by Monday, they'll try.   If they know they can't reach you except during business hours they plan better.   I highly recommend it.

Damn.  Last time I heard from mine was about 5 years ago when she contacted me out of the blue and asked for a couple grand.  Not to borrow, she wanted me to give it to her.

Best thing I got rid of was almost all of my friends, if you can even call them that. I no longer have to listen to a over 40 dunk call me every night at 3 am crying telling me how lonely he is since his wife divorced him. Also got rid of my female friends, if I am not fucking them whats the point of having to listen to them? Now my phone hardly ever rings and when it does there is not a loser on the other end.

Dont know the story man, but from what I read maybe he was needing a friend and he was looking for it in you.

I suspect he was not just a temporary post divorce drunk, but a drunk to beginwhith, hence being left and sad about it.

Funny you should ask.   Over the last week, I've purged my life of 90% of nonessential toys, tools, gadgets and doodads.     We had an estate sale, and I'm not even dead yet.

It's sort of liberating, but also sad.   Sold everything, pretty much at half price.

I moved a year ago, but didn't get rid of my original home.    $2000 per month burn.   It's time for it to go.   Time to get a fresh start in life.

Reinventing oneself is not easy folks.   But it's a worthwhile endeavor, I think,
