I just received a new (to me) field camera, a Zone VI 4x5 by Wista. It is nearly 40 years old but looks near new, like it was never used.
I snagged it for $500.00. These are still being made as the Wista DX II and go for $2800.00 new. Mine supposedly has plated gold hardware. Can't wait to go hiking up in the mountains with it! That's a work of art, I'd be afraid to use it for fear of screwing it up.
|
|
Awesome... I need to get a field camera so I can start using the 4x5 enlarger.

Makes the 45mp Medium Format cameras look like an Etch-A-Sketch
I LOVE Large Format... |

Can't wait to see some shots with it. Got any sources for Velvia 50 in 4x5?

You have got to post some pictures from that thing. I only did 35mm and medium format. I can imagine the grain from it.

Thanks everyone. I'll be sure to post some photos when I shoot and develop them.
For now, here are a few I shot and developed from my medium format Mamiya RB67. You just can't beat film for b&w. I have a very bad habit too. I collect Nikon F film cameras. I have a model of each from the F to the F6. And an F3/T and three F3hp. I like F3s. A lot.
Edit: Just bought a brand new in the box MD-4 motor drive and I don't have an extra body to put it on. So I'm in the market again. |

I was able to take some photographs with an 8x10 inch negative camera many years ago.... Incredible details in a negative of that size.

Beautiful work - you've got some great stuff there. |

Just way too much money in film sheets that size. |

I have a bunch of old 35mm stuff that I always mean to get out and shoot with. A Nikon FM2, a Mamiya 1000TL, a Pracktica MTL, etc. Always wanted to get a Russian Zenit because the bodies work with my screw mount lenses. Never did though. Also really wanted a Fed 50 but never got around to buying one.
I also have a Rolliecord with half a roll of film in it that needs to be shot. Also have some older rangefinders, a Petri 7S with a battery-free selenium meter that's like new, and a DeJur D-3. With all the other stuff I have going on, seems like I will never get time to get them out and use them. It's too easy to grab a digital when I want to take pictures. |

But for the past year or so, I've been bitten by the film bug. I now have 4 medium format cameras, 2 4x5s and many 35mm cameras and my own darkroom with two enlargers. With the price of film cameras and darkroom equipment being so cheap now, it is hard not to get into it. I think I am still under $1,000.00 total for all my film and darkroom gear, and I have a lot! |

My favorite place is Freestylephoto.biz They are also great for film. They have a store brand, Arista, than is packaged from the different factories like Fomapan and Kodak. Arista Premium 400 is Tri-x and their Arista EDU line is the Fomapan products, but at half the price. |

The focus peaking is outstanding for manual focus lenses. |
