I just received a new (to me) field camera, a Zone VI 4x5 by Wista.  It is nearly 40 years old but looks near new, like it was never used.

I snagged it for $500.00.  These are still being made as the Wista DX II and go for $2800.00 new.  Mine supposedly has plated gold hardware.

Can't wait to go hiking up in the mountains with it!

Thanks everyone.  I'll be sure to post some photos when I shoot and develop them.

For now, here are a few I shot and developed from my medium format Mamiya RB67.

You just can't beat film for b&w.

The lens on the 4x5 is a Nikkor W 180mm f5.6.  I have a tiny Fujinon W 125mm f5.6 coming.

The medium format photos were taken with a Sekkor C 90mm F3.8.  The last was taken with a Sekkor k/l 180mm f4.5

I can understand time, but not budget any longer.  Prices are so low now for most things film, that they are practically giving them away.  My whole darkroom with two enlargers cost $200.00.  And my medium format Mamiya RB67 with 90mm lens and 120 film back was only $150.00.  Medium format film is $2.50 per roll from Freestyle Photo.  If you develop with Adonal (Rodinal) price per roll is only a few cents.

Here's my $150.00 medium format camera.  These sold new only a few years ago for thousands.

I wish I had that kind of money

I don't make a lot on photography, it is mostly a hobby, just a few print sales here and there.  I spent ALOT more on gear than I make selling prints.

Here's some (a small amount) of my digital stuff:  http://andrewmarjamaphotography.com

I have a very bad habit too.  I collect Nikon F film cameras.  I have a model of each from the F to the F6.  And an F3/T and three F3hp.  I like F3s.  A lot.

Edit:  Just bought a brand new in the box MD-4 motor drive and I don't have an extra body to put it on.  So I'm in the market again.

Its a disease!  I'm now looking at some Russian rangefinders!

I'd love to pick up an F3 or FE2 to shoot some film with my Nikon glass.

I just hope I can call well enough alone and stick with 4x5.

Although 8x10 is exceptional for contact prints, or even better, carbon prints.

Just way too much money in film sheets that size.

I have a bunch of old 35mm stuff that I always mean to get out and shoot with.  A Nikon FM2, a Mamiya 1000TL, a Pracktica MTL, etc. Always wanted to get a Russian Zenit because the bodies work with my screw mount lenses.  Never did though. Also really wanted a Fed 50 but never got around to buying one.

I also have a Rolliecord with half a roll of film in it that needs to be shot.

Also have some older rangefinders, a Petri 7S with a battery-free selenium meter that's like new, and a DeJur D-3.

With all the other stuff I have going on, seems like I will never get time to get them out and use them. It's too easy to grab a digital when I want to take pictures.

Yeah, I'm somewhat going the other way.  I started with digital DSLRs many years ago, I have a Nikon D600, Sony Nex 5n and Pentax K20d.  But for the past year or so, I've been bitten by the film bug.

I now have 4 medium format cameras, 2 4x5s and many 35mm cameras and my own darkroom with two enlargers.

With the price of film cameras and darkroom equipment being so cheap now, it is hard not to get into it.  I think I am still under $1,000.00 total for all my film and darkroom gear, and I have a lot!

How are darkroom chemicals to find?  Pretty easy to purchase online or do you have a local source?

Very easy to get everywhere.  My favorite place is Freestylephoto.biz

They are also great for film.  They have a store brand, Arista, than is packaged from the different factories like Fomapan and Kodak.  Arista Premium 400 is Tri-x and their Arista EDU line is the Fomapan products, but at half the price.

The Nex 5n is a great camera.  I REALLY like it because you can use almost any lens in existence with an adapter.  Makes for some bad lens lust though.  I love using my Takumar M42 mount lenses with it.  The focus peaking is outstanding for manual focus lenses.

I own a few Safe Queen cameras.  My favorite is a Rolleiflex F/2,8C that was my dad's.  I used it a lot when I was taking photography classes in college days.

I wish someone would make a digital back for that one.
