I'll sell my Siaga 12 and Vepr 12 at some point, but I won't ever sell my SGL-31. Just not that much utility or fun in the shotguns. They end up collecting dust in the safe. Also, never assume a collective understanding or intelligence in the panic herd. (the smart money isn't buying after the fact) |

I'm debating selling my sgl-21. It's a nice rifle, but if people are willing to spend double what I paid for it just to have a russian made rifle, I can buy a Bulgarian arsenal for a lot less and have enough left over to buy a crate of ammo.

And fuck freedom right? What would prevent a US Company from making AKs? Is there some kind of international patent on it? I doubt it, I would think it'd be public domain by now as the design is damn near 70 years old. But as Miami_JBT pointed out a couple pages back, it almost certainly would be more expensive due to the manufacturing process and reduced competition from imports. And from my admittedly limited knowledge of AK's, it seems like a fair amount of US made AK products aren't as highly regarded as the imported stuff. Magazines being one example. View Quote So far mine has shot very well.I had some feeding issues with the SGM mags (12 round) the Russian mags have worked flawlessly so far. They seem to fit better and are smoother than the SGM's, at least the ones i have. Here is a tip for cheap blasting ammo.Head to walmart and look for the 100 round value packs of field loads. They are roll back priced at $19.97 for the 100 round pack. Some stores only have the Winchester value packs but the Federal is the on you want as its on rollback pricing.I bought 6 packs from one walmart yesterday, its good cheap fun. |

Cross-post of what I said in another thread:
As much as I'll probably get flamed for this, I really don't think this will last. It happened because of Russian meddling in Ukraine. If Russia stops tooling around over there, the sanctions will probably be lifted. Crippling a Russian industry via sanctions after they reversed the behavior would be terribl foreign policy (not that this Admin knows anything about foreign policy). Fortunately for us, this issue isn't some "domestic" thing that only affects the US, where Obama can act with impunity (how sad that I just typed that?). Placing sanctions on a foreign nation for X reason, the foreign nation changing X action, and then the country that placed the sanctions refusing to withdraw the sanctions would be suicide from a foreign policy perspective and would severely damage what little is left of US-Russian relations. What I would worry more about is that it's obvious that Russia doesn't care what we think about what's going on in Ukraine or strongly worded letters, and I fear we'll have another 'Sudetenland Crisis' on our hands. |
