Would appear to be an accurate assessment. View Quote Excellent. Maybe, for once, if Israel is allowed to "win" a war/event it will send enough of a message to the enemy that will cause them to pause before starting a new war/event. I think because nothing has been "won" since 1967 (or 80's in Lebanon) it emboldens the enemy to keep trying because the threshold is fairly low. Plus the local population of the enemy, might view their tolerance of the enemy agitation of Israel (or US, etc.) differently if they realize the constant provoking of Israel/US will cause an epic ass kicking that directly effects their way of life and future. Do you think if the people in Germany has some idea of the total destruction of their way of life would have put up with Nazi party in the mid 30's? The constant PC, limp wristed, peace at any cost approach, just keeps kicking the can down the road. eventually it will have to be dealt with. |

barrage of missiles around Ashdod.

My read following the Israeli press is that the anti tunnel op will be done in a day or two. If that's true then the IDF would pull the troops out of Gaza. Then all that would be left is the air campaign that would go back to air strikes following rocket attacks. They would probably keep artillery batteries on the border to hit some of the mortar teams but assuming the tunnel operation is wrapping up the war will be winding down.
I think there is zero chance of the IDF re-occupying Gaza. Regardless of support in Israel, the casualties for that kind of op would loose support and frankly I don't think the IDF wants to occupy Gaza. |
|
You might be right az-larry, but I'm not convinced myself just yet that this is winding down. With the 16,000 more called up recently and the claim that they want all rocket attacks to cease and a complete disarmament of Hamas it would mean a full occupation.
The Israeli news is warning that this will be a very long operation, and with the leaflets we saw yesterday there's signs that the ground forces will be moving into new areas of Gaza. |

View Quote Short of going house-to-house there would be absolutely no way to get all the rockets. The best you can do is flatten everything around the launching sites until the Gaza Strip Future Astronaut Society is declared persona non grata. The house to house fighting would be against "children" who are not wearing military uniforms. They'd fight like the Devil himself while the leadership continues to get fat and sassy over in Qatar. Not worth the loss of Israeli life. It's better to maintain a blockade, assert air superiority, and send in the occasional killdozer to collapse tunnels. The UN is supporting the whole disaster so there is no hope of ever getting them de-funded. All in all it's a losing proposition for everyone but the top-level Hamas leadership. |

looks like another large rocket attack north of Gaza.
man those guys hate that place today |

I'm not sure what Israel will do concerning what happens after the tunnel operations are done, but having said that...
Fat and Sassy in Qatar would make an awesome movie title, I'm thinking something along the lines of The Birdcage mixed with The Infidel, someone needs to get on that. |

View Quote Hmm, it sure looks like 18-38 year old males make up the majority of those killed. Gee, I wonder whyfor that could be? Yes that last part was sarcasm. The casualties in that demographic are most likely military aged males that either engaged in direct combat with the IDF ground forces, or didn't move quite lively enough after firing something at Israel, and got caught by the counterbattery/Apache/F-16/Merkava/etc. that showed its displeasure at their shenanigans in reply. ETA: Although seeing as how this is Hamas the definition of "military aged male" is kind of ambiguous as well, we've all seen videos of 12 year olds with AKs. |

Here's the Hamas playbook for reporting casualties to outside sources and media. http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2014/07/hamas-giving-civilians-how-to-lie-about.html The mainstream media gets its Gaza casualty numbers from Hamas and the terrorist organization gave some insight into how they come up with their figures. The Hamas interior ministry issued guidelines to Gaza Strip social media users on how to lie about the conflict when discussing it with outsiders outsiders: "Anyone killed or martyred is to be called a civilian from Gaza or Palestine, before we talk about his status in jihad or his military rank. Don't forget to always add 'innocent civilian' or 'innocent citizen' in your description of those killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza."
The guidelines, which Hamas calls the "Be Aware – Social Media Activist Awareness Campaign," were issued via an instructional video posted on its official website and via posters published on its Twitter and Facebook pages. The video and posters were also embedded on the ministry's social media accounts and forums. The video and guidelines were published in Arabic, but MEMRI has translated parts of the text into English: Anyone killed or martyred is to be called a civilian from Gaza or Palestine, before we talk about his status in jihad or his military rank. Don't forget to always add 'innocent civilian' or 'innocent citizen' in your description of those killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza. Begin [your reports of] news of resistance actions with the phrase 'In response to the cruel Israeli attack,' and conclude with the phrase 'This many people have been martyred since Israel launched its aggression against Gaza.' Be sure to always perpetuate the principle of 'the role of the occupation is attack, and we in Palestine are fulfilling [the role of] the reaction.' Beware of spreading rumors from Israeli spokesmen, particularly those that harm the home front. Be wary regarding accepting the occupation's version [of events]. You must always cast doubts on this [version], disprove it, and treat it as false. Avoid publishing pictures of rockets fired into Israel from [Gaza] city centers. This [would] provide a pretext for attacking residential areas in the Gaza Strip. Do not publish or share photos or video clips showing rocket launching sites or the movement of resistance [forces] in Gaza. To the administrators of news pages on Facebook: Do not publish close-ups of masked men with heavy weapons, so that your page will not be shut down [by Facebook] on the claim that you are inciting violence. In your coverage, be sure that you say: 'The locally manufactured shells fired by the resistance are a natural response to the Israeli occupation that deliberately fires rockets against civilians in the West Bank and Gaza'..." The interior ministry also published suggestions for Palestinian activists who speak to Western civilians via social media. They emphasized that conversations with those Westerners should be conducted differently from conversations with their Arab contacts: When speaking to the West, you must use political, rational, and persuasive discourse, and avoid emotional discourse aimed at begging for sympathy. There are elements with a conscience in the world; you must maintain contact with them and activate them for the benefit of Palestine. Their role is to shame the occupation and expose its violations. Avoid entering into a political argument with a Westerner aimed at convincing him that the Holocaust is a lie and deceit; instead, equate it with Israel's crimes against Palestinian civilians. The narrative of life vs. the narrative of blood: [When speaking] to an Arab friend, start with the number of martyrs. [But when speaking] to a Western friend, start with the number of wounded and dead. Be sure to humanize the Palestinian suffering. Try to paint a picture of the suffering of the civilians in Gaza and the West Bank during the occupation's operations and its bombings of cities and villages. Do not publish photos of military commanders. Do not mention their names in public, and do not praise their achievements in conversations with foreign friends! View Quote |

How not to get blown up by Israel:
1. Don't attack Israel. 2. Don't shelter those who attack Israel. 3. Evacuate when Israel tells you they will be blowing up terrorists near you. 4. Don't allow Hamas to attack Israel from locations near you. Easy. |

Reading that article above, I'm almost certain some of you guys were trolling Hamas operatives or at least their contacts and useful idiots in Occutard and other social chats.
