In other news, reports that Gerrard is leaving Liverpool after this season.

And in further news, Liverpool are still shite.

The crazy thing is he's not retiring, but moving on.  Never thought I'd see the day.

All of Chelsea's back 4 seemed a bit behind.

Not a bad day in the football world though. NYD record 33 goals scored. Lots of really good games.

Had to work today and too short-staffed to even check the scores from time to time.  Annoyed Arsenal couldn't take advantage of things tightening at the top, but another patchwork lineup caused by injuries and the bonehead Frenchman's 3 game suspension.

Read a great tweet about the coach trying to get them to play well together in the 2016 MLS all star game will be the latest in a long line of unsuccessful managers trying to get them to play together in the midfield.  I laughed.

Glad the Gerrard news is overshadowing the horrid performance of my Blues.

Pretty much, yeah.

I never got the chance to see him play at Anfield, but he's still my favorite player so I'm okay with the MLS.

Also takes care of any issue he would have to play there in the wrong dressing room.

I suspect a US MLS team will pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for him to play.  I am old enough to remember how Pele was going to bring soccer to the US playing for the NY Cosmos.  Or Elton John put money up for a team in LA.  Or the guy who married the Spice Girl going to LA to bring soccer to the US.  US Soccer loves the idea that a superstar is going to bring soccer to America. Still hasn't happened.

I'm pretty new to the forum, and just curious to see who everyone supports here and why.

I've supported Tottenham since I was about 10, only because an English friend of mine was from London and that was his team. 18 years later, and they still are my team.

I follow Rangers FC and Schalke as well.

Grew up playing soccer.  Actually had several English club coaches who encouraged us to watch the EPL.  As a central midfielder, I loved watching Gerrard play (can't remember now the exact year, probably 01-02 time frame).  Because I enjoyed watching him play, I became a Liverpool fan as well...which makes his departure even more sad to me.

I'm a little older.  My appreciation of the game came from watching my kids play.  I picked Chelsea because it seemed everyone supported ManU because of all their wins and Beckham/Ronaldo.  I also picked Chelsea because of the English combination of Terry and Lampard.  Finally, I knew, if I ever got to the UK again, I'd likely only be in or around London and therefore might have a chance to see the Blues live.

David Moyes's Real Sociedad stopped Barcelona going top of La Liga thanks to an early own goal from Jordi Alba.

Real Madrid's 2-1 defeat at Valencia earlier in the day would have allowed the Catalans to edge ahead in the title race if they had won.

But coach Luis Enrique started with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Dani Alves on the bench following the festive break.

And they were unable to inspire a fightback as Moyes secured a memorable second win as Sociedad manager.

...

Possession
73% Barca vs 27% Real Sociedad

Same here, re: how I started following the EPL.  At that time, it seemed like every game shown on TV had ManU on it, so I started generally following them.  Plus, my niece is a Chelsea fanatic, so she dragged me in to following the Blues.

Sure would like to see the Blues advance in all competitions (and beat the hated Reds) but it must be maddening to try and figure your lineups. Trying to stay on top of the league w City on your heels and playing two league cup games and an FA cup tie in the next week. Then the home fixture against City. I trust in Jose, but I think he'll throw away the league cup to rest his stars.

They've had the same starting XI in 20 of the 22 EPL fixtures this season.  Cahill out last weekend, and Azpil out today.  Guys like Hazard, Oscar, Willian, etc. are getting lots of playing time, and I hope it doesn't come to bite Jose in the ass in May.

CFC may catch a break, because I don't think Sturridge is fit yet, and Liverpool really needs better results in EPL than League Cup.

"This team is a young team with lots of years in front of them, but we are trying this season to make some history by winning something." - Jose today.  He is looking for silverware.

Still new to this, and all the lower divisions.  If Bradford City is 49 places below Chelsea (7th in the Third Tier) this upset has to be something like a second or third place SEC College grid iron team beating the Seahawks?  Or a AA baseball team beating the Giants in a game that matters and eliminates them.  Am I drawing the right conclusion there?

Looks like it was upset day all over for the FA cup with City and Southampton also eliminated.  And United and Liverpool playing to draws?

Yes, it was like a AA team beating a major league team.  Chelsea did not field their usual first 11, but after Bradford City equalized at 2-2, both Fabregas and Hazard came on.  Two regular starters, Cahill and "Dave" were both in the back four.  Bradford City scored two more goals.  Un-freaking-beleivable.  I did not see the game.  I really wish I knew how the Bantams carved up our defense.   It's a stunner.
