At least this guy had a bit of skill. Misguided however well intentioned. Garands simply cannot be civilianized. It is not in their DNA. |

The American Rifleman article on how to sporterize the Garand was just posted a few days ago, probably in a C&R thread. Too bad they left it in .30"-06. It'd be better in .270". And that's quite a pain w/o the original custom scope mount.

I'm trying to figure out if:
A: someone who had a little bit of gunsmithing skills, but was a cheapskate built the thing B: some poor guy with a little bit of skill built it because he couldn't afford a new rifle but didn't want to be lugging a stock M1 to deer camp. C: some dumbass paid someone to do it, while probably spending more money than it would have cost to buy a new rifle I am sad this rifle is located in Wisconsin. But it was probably built by a Minnesotan knowing my neighbors across the border.
