Despite expectations of eloquence, I'm tired, I'm finally succumbing to the cold I held off while in Indianapolis and I'm just generally cranky.  So here goes blunt honesty instead:

Tim was a financially successful businessman with plans to launch a new venture in Colorado. He was courted by the local Republicans and could easily have pursued a shoe-in career in local politics.  He had a wife and a young son who loved and needed him.  After the 2013 assault on our rights, when just about every other big-talking sonofabitch in the state sat on their thumbs looking perplexed and hurt, Tim had a conversation with James about recall and then he ran with it.

That's great "inside cover text".  Now here's what that means in practical terms.

His family did without him entirely for days if not weeks on end because he lives in the southwest corner of our state, on the other side of the Rockies, and he drove six to eight hours each direction on a regular basis because he needed to look people in the eye when rallying support, meeting legislators and securing allies.  He didn't bitch about it, he just did it.  After doing that for 9 months, though, he nearly fucking died (Tim, apologies if this embarrasses you).  His body pretty much shut down.  His back was on its way to being wrecked, his kidneys had just about failed.  He had several surgeries and was in the hospital for a month after our victory party.  So while the local "defenders of liberty" were falling over each other to take credit for the recalls, Tim was a little busy trying not to die from exhaustion.

The business he was going to start to provide for his family and employ fellow Coloradans?  Yeah, that didn't happen because he was too fucking busy pushing back for our rights.  The bankroll he started with?  Buh-bye.  He personally put a six-digit sum into the fight on top of what ARFCom and others donated to keep the recall movement afloat and legally defended.  His potential political career in Colorado?  Yeah, right.  That bridge was not only burned, it was vaporized because he told the Republicans that they were gutless, honorless bastards and that doing their job for them was more important to him than being their vassal.

He didn't care about credit.  He shied away from the cameras and media until after the recalls succeeded.  He worked with people he knew hated him and talked shit behind his back and he did it with tact, diplomacy and a goofy smile because all that mattered was doing the right thing and delivering a win for personal liberty when the whole fucking country needed one.

So I think about what I know and I imagine him sitting on the board of a national group with five million members.  I picture what he might be able to accomplish in terms of reclaiming lost ground and inspiring people to get up and act, even if they need to do it on their own time and own dime.  I've said it before in other threads and this is a perfect place to say it again.  The NRA is powerful but slow and lumbering.  It needs new leadership that is more nimble and, frankly, more fucking pissed off and driven.  We need people like Tim to lead an offense and not just do reactionary damage control.  He's got my vote, he's got my wife's vote and we're reaching out to every voting member when know to secure theirs as well.

1. My apologies if this has already been addressed, but what is the deadline for us returning signed petitions to you, OP?

2. I've posted in the SC Hometown Forum, but I'll say it again here--if you are anywhere in the Upstate (between Columbia and the mountains), PM me and I will bring the petition to you to sign.

Mid September on the return. I think I mailed you a petition, if you don't get it in a week, let me know and I will mail you another.

Black ink I would say, but I don't think they would ding me for some blue.

Yeah and careful with that, as I was thinking the same thing, beans, no beans.

As requested (sorry, it's been a hectic few days)...

This is how I set up all my jerseys when I photograph them.

I was floored when I saw the personalization on the back. My last name isn't exactly short, is not easy to spell (and it was spelled correctly!), and every letter costs money when doing jerseys!

Thanks again, Tim - looking forward to working with you on the other great projects!

Little less than half way now. I am hitting a few gun shows and will make a habit of doing it the future as well. Can't know what the members are thinking unless you are making eye contact. So into the deep end. And thank you all for your continued support. Keep them coming ..... I need to well clear the goal to be safe.

I enjoyed meeting folks at the Tanner Gun Show in Denver this last weekend.

Surprised at how many people, gun people, had never heard of the Colorado recalls. Some people did not care, I expected that.

I was able to get about 60 signatures from voting members over the 2 days. I imagine about 40 of them are valid. Their is something to the card carrying member thing. I never thought this was going to be an easy road, and I need a good margin so I am now off in seek of more voting members.

And so member don't think I am entitled, lazy or don't want this, I am very willing to travel gun shows in other states ..... So I am now looking at hitting some shows in August and September. The least I can do is stand and ask for support, take the heat and show that I really think I can make a difference. Even if I get on the board and get the internal nomination next time, I will still travel and take the heat from the members as long as I remain on board. I really respect the few board members that also get a "nomination by petition as well," they want to stay connected yo the members (you can have both: nomination committee and petition).

And thank you for all of your support, I will take all of the help I can get.  I was under no Illusion that I did not have to earn this, glad to.

Drop me an IM with your address and I will mail it right to ya. Every vote counts and I will drop a postage paid envelope for the return as well.

This applies to anyone reading this, you just have to be a life member or have an unbroken membership since 2008 (you can call the NRA to check, they won't tell me. Ask "am I voting member ?").  Just IM me your mailing address and I will drop you a packet. Even for one signature ..... And you can get others to sign it if they are handy. I can look up members numbers if all the other data is exactly (full name and address) as it is recorded in the NRA records. Monthly magazine and membership cards are a sure reference.

Thank you all for the support

Please visit my website www.knight4nra.com

I was stupid enough to put my life on line, but I wanted people to know I am a real person. Website will get tuned in November for the 2015 vote WHEN I get in the ballot.

So the tour continues, to show you and other fellow NRA members that I am serious about both my run for the board & injecting some grassroots success into the NRA.

I am traveling to the following gun shows to earn it. Making final plans now.

Aug 16th - 17th, 2014Dixie Charlotte Gun & Knife ShowCharlotte, NC
Aug 30th - 31st, 2014Phoenix Gun Show  Phoenix, AZ
Sep 20th - 21st, 2014HGCA Gun ShowHouston, TX

So if anyone is in the area stop by and say hi. Love to meet ARCOMers.
Adult beverages immediately following all Saturday dates. Join me!

I will have a booth and collect signatures. Looking members in the eye and really campaging for my seat at the table.
I will continue to do this as long as I remain on the board (if I am able to get on) at shows all over the country.

- Tim

Bump for a thank you.....

The founders of the Colorado recall movement wanted to thank the socioeconomic and Lliberty engine that ARFCOM has become. So we framed up a Free Colorado flag for there new store. I flew down to Dallas to help them unwrap it today. Thank you does not begin to cut it, but to all of those who made a difference we thank you and will continue to do so in person every chance we get. Inscribed below the flag it reads (Keith C wrote it).

Without AR15.com, there would have been no recalls in Colorado. It was where we met, organized and recruited. When we were out of money and abandoned by "conservatives", its members opened their wallets to sustain us. It gave us the help -and hope - we needed to see the job through and we will always be grateful. We hope you will accept this token of our appreciation and smile at the knowledge that the stick we jammed in the eye of gun control had a BFL branded on it.
