Most LEOs are great guys. The few jackasses out there can do a lot to ruin the reputation of thousands of hard working and decent men and women.
Having been an EMT, tho, I do find it annoying how most cops' knee-jerk response is to defend the suspect actions of police--even if it's patently obvious they're in the wrong. ...btw, have you ever heard anyone badmouthing firemen? |

Posts about police have made me be less trusting of LEO as a group.
Post by LEO have made me understand that like every other profession, there are (mostly) good people and a few bad. So, its mostly a wash. |

Just reinforced what I already knew. There are good cops, bad cops and people who have no business being a cop. It seems that the bad cops and people who have no business being a cop are becoming more prevalent these days. I avoid cops like I would avoid someone who has the black plague, never know which of the above you will run into. |

There are some great ones on this site but they are overshadowed by the resident JBT's. It is really a shame. The great ones usually will give an input of maybe 1 or 2 posts in a LEO thread. where as the JBT ones just keep at it and show how they have no regard for the constitution.
To the ones who hold to their oath and to values I have a deep respect for, and enjoy their insight. For the JBT thugs well they are petty little boys who like the badge because they think it validates their inadequacies.

It's really hard to say. Most of the guys who are LEO are just guys.
But I think even in normal, good people the institutionalization runs very deep in LEO's so even the good ones have a tendency to be very protective of douchebag behavior when they probably shouldn't. Does that make them douchebags? No, it's just part of the indoc and lifestyle that cops live. They have to protect each other, even in the face of retardedness because they may need that retarded cop to protect them one day. But still, the level of us vs. them attitude that is apparent in most cops makes me have less of an opinion of them. |

My father was a cop for 33yrs. And to this day he is my hero! Now for what I have seen in my neck of the woods I have given up. From what I have seen in the last 10 years
I no longer have any respect for them. I wont help them in any way or any situation. This is what the us vs them gets you. By the way to this day I have never even had a speeding ticket. |

90% posts by LEOs reinforce my faith in humanity, then 10% of posts, some by the same posters, wipe it out. Speaking of working as an EMT I am less anti cop since I stopped working withem daily, if that tells you anything.

Posts by those that I know are officers? 100% affirmation of good guy status.
The worst postings I've seen from a known officer (retired) were still 100% OK. They just weren't tinged by badge bunny shine or hero worship, and by an utter and complete omission of anything that could be considered PC. |

When I was a kid my Dad told me "Son, avoid the police", and Dad was a hard working, law abiding, tax paying man.

There are several on my ignore list, some banned. So I would say it hasn't improved my overall opinion.
I'm not a Leo fan anyway though, less now due to recent experiences than formerly. I won't speak to Ncis for anything, even if they're the only le in the country., because I've come to believe every last fucker in the organization is a criminal. |

My personal experiences have shaped my opinion on law enforcement. Some good and some bad. I can't say that I trust any of them in particular. Mostly because I don't know any cops personally. That being said, I am sure most here are good dudes and some are not. There have been some posts here making light of unfortunate situations that I think were in poor taste, but this is GD.
