No shit, as someone that drives through SC to visit family in NC is pisses me off. Both states are pig-headed about this but SC"s requirement is a state-sponsored safety course. You SC boys need to pressure your lawmakers while we pressure ours.

Check out how NBC "News" presents the story:

What Georgia's 'Extreme' New Gun Law Allows

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed a new gun law Wednesday that greatly expands the number of public places where licensed owners are allowed to carry their weapons. Critics have called the law “extreme,” while the National Rifle Association lauded it as an “historic victory for the Second Amendment. What does the Safe Carry Protection Act really do? Here’s a brief list of the major changes ahead for Georgians when the law takes effect July 1:

Good for you Georgia!  We have had "bar carry" here in OH for a while and all of the same liberal, emotional, sky is falling BS was said before hand.  Blood in the streets, etc.  Nothing like that has happened.  God forbid someone is able to stand up and protect themselves without a .gov based solution.

Wow, it eliminates fingerprinting for the GWL creates a renewal system that doesn't require fingerprinting when renewing. I didn't realize that. Nice!

I've got to renew before Aug, this takes effect in July so I'm debating on if I wait and gamble the time difference.

Good!

Saw it on ABC world news tonight
It was great tho!  The looks on all of the reporters faces were priceless- shock, dismay, anger- over the issue.
The look on the faces of Georgia residents?   All smiles!

God Bless Georgia Carry.

They (and their membership, of which I am proud to say I am) are nearly singlehandedly responsible for the vast improvements in carry issues and firearms law in the state of GA in the past six years.

And we ain't done yet.

Every time a state tried to enact CCW, it was the same shit from the liberals.  It will be the wild west, people will die left and right, children will be harmed.  And they were wrong 50 times.  Why would they react any different to this?

+1000 SC has it's head up it's ass in regards to things like that. I believe GCO is actively seeking to sue SC to allow carry. Many members have met all of the qualifications of getting a SC permit other than owning property there then applied for a permit as grounds.

Sherriff's deputy I have known for years got pulled over in full uniform in squad car crossing the border into SC transporting a prisoner with a SC warrant. SC officers made them disarm and put their pistols in the trunk

I try as hard as I can to stay out of South Carolina

My best friend spent 3 days in jail for having a loaded pistol in his bag, he was ignorant of SC law.

i think it has something to do with an old dispute over the savannah river water rights also, something SC is holding up due to long ago dispute as well as their safety course bull shit

Good lord, man.

Your schtick is tired.

There are no Libertarians in the GA General Assembly.   You can give that boogeyman a rest.

Further, we would have had this legislation AND CAMPUS CARRY a lot earlier if not for certain Republicans (including the governor) working behind the scenes working to kill similar bills the last two years. They teamed up with the Board of Regents to make sure campus carry was stripped out of the bill.

So yeah, thanks to those who voted for the bill.  But don't fool yourself into thinking that there weren't MANY Republicans who were none too pleased with the bill and were pretty much forced to sign this bill kicking and screaming.

Negative, you cannot carry on school grounds(outside of your car) or government buildings here.

Whats worse is that we always have to be on the lookout for those pesky "no guns" signs

Plus we cannot carry in muni-parks, which in a town like Nashville with bike trails, hiking trails, etc, means you might as well not have a CCW.  Wonder why folks like Breven52 spew such nonsense.

God bless GA.

As far as TN, our legislature just gave us the big 2A middle finger this month when they trashed  House Bill 1407.

Should be viewed on the same level as Jim Crow laws.
