Seriously, this guy is beyond retarded and can go eat a bowl of fuck. |

Interesting....
All of his rates are set up as "donations" All of those fancy leadership and motivation degrees and not enough business classes to not set up an audit magnet. |

Feinstein, Schumer and Cuomo would be horrified and say such training would make people better killers. They would say this despite the fact that those taking the training would be law abiding citizens, then again they are afraid of the law abiding gun owners anyway.

His answer makes no sense. I'm confused as what his reasoning behind this stipulation to own "assault weapons." It's his way of trying to trick you into believing that he is for 2nd amendment rights when he is actually not, but a gun grabber like others. Obama said he supported the 2nd. Same thing. Just more nuanced. |

May be dupe, looked back a few pages didn't see it posted. A Dan Gaita a former Mainre running for governor in CT says he'd compromise by repealing our latest anti rights firearm laws and have people take the same training and have annual qualifications that he had in the Marines in order to possess "assault weapons". He is in a lengthy discussion on his facebook page with several people that makes for further entertaining reading. http://www.scribd.com/doc/219665517/Assault-Weapons-Ban-in-Connecticut-One-Marines-Perspective So, to answer your question:
“Do I support overturning the ban on assault weapons?” Answer: So long as any person that owns an assault weapon goes through the same training and annual qualifications I did, then yes, yes I do support overturning the ban. In the mean time, for those of you that don’t want to go through this type of training and qualification program you can still go to the store and get yourself a rifle, a pistol, a shotgun and ammunition for each. Nobody, (despite the frenzy of misinformation on this topic) not even here in the legislative dysfunctional state of CT, is coming to take guns from law-abiding citizens. But if we want to own an “Assault Weapon” I believe we should be properly trained to safely, effectively and accurately use one. View Quote View Quote |

He told everyone that Range Week in bootcamp is hard. He's a fucking arty scout/observer, which means he lugged some fucking bootenant's radio around so that the lt could call in firemissions. Fuck this guy. Didn't even get a combat action ribbon in somalia...which means he did absolutely dick. |

The USMC community is CT can't be that big.
SOMEONE here HAS to know him. I've got a few feelers out on and off the board to guys that I know. But they are all my age or a few younger. This guy probably 7-10 years older than me, and I don't know anyone in that community in that age group that I would feel comfortable asking about this guy to. |

Let me guess, he was an officer, right? Got up to LTC or Colonel before getting out?
For some reason, former high field grade officers tend to be the worst at individual rights. ETA: Apparently, he was a corporal. Nearly 20 years ago. You know, reading his Facebook page I got the impression he was a 20 year man who just got out. |

Someone needs to come up with a program that must be completed before a person is allowed to run for a statewide elective office.
Perhaps a multi hundred hour course in the US Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights, Federalist papers. Then a course in other government systems. A course in Marxism and socialism Events leading up to the American Revolution. |

You folks in CT should take what ever you can. The marksmanship training is that not that hard. A bunch of you already have it. Once you get this in place you can go for other relaxation in the laws. Right now you have no hope of getting a repeal. Take what you can; don't be the guy that is going to hold his breath until he gets what he wants.

I think you guys are overreacting.
1) It's CT 2) He's got no chance getting elected anyway. 3) His perspective is "what do we have to do to get the AWB lifted.. it's an idea he had.. probably just for talking points purposes because such an idea would never fly... not because of the concerns you folks raise but because it's CT. On the subject.. I actually don't have a problem with new shooters to get some kind of general firearms safety training. I've seen too many noobs doing stupid stuff and the ranges down here. I like the method CMP uses for buying a Garand.. which is simply to show proof that you received some kind of firearms safety instruction. They accept anything from a hunters coarse to prior mil/le service to a chl. Long gone are the days that most Americans get introduced to firearms under their fathers watchful eye. Making everyone going through army/marine style BRM is silly... however.. if they'll let me take my scoped/bull barrel config to one of those qualifying ranges with the pop targets I'll make expert every time ... |

That's cool of him to pay for all that out of his own funds, and not burden gun owners or taxpayers with additional costs.
