in all honesty though, opera is nice. It's light weight, doesn't shit the bed if you *gasp* try to check email from someplace other than gmail, and their accelerator works decently for bypassing content filters on the fly. |

Don't forget, that at some levels of science, the act of observing something causes a change..... Which isn't exactly earth shaking news. At those scales "observing" with our instrumentation is like observing a football game by dropping a nuclear bomb on it and seeing what happens. The notion that we have to see something for it to happen is nonsense. If it were true, then we couldn't be here since the sun and the earth could never have formed (since we couldn't watch it to make it happen). |

I still don't get why you're so upset. Sear/hammer engagement is forced by spring pressure, the safety is a simple trigger block (right?), you could in theory get the gun to fire without moving the trigger (especially if you do trigger work with a dremel when you're fluting your barrel). |

Correct. It was stated that the sear was held in place only by a spring. If that was the case, if you removed the spring, the sear should disengage. |

Because if you have all the springs in that assembly removed you should be able to get it to fall apart for you just by waving it around? |

so what am I missing here? Because if you have all the springs in that assembly removed you should be able to get it to fall apart for you just by waving it around? View Quote The discussion is about drop safety. There is more than just a spring behind the sear holding it in engagement with the hammer. The sear/hammer notch geometry and the sear and hammer pivot points force the sear into engagement until the sear is rotated by the connector. Granted this pressure is supplied by the hammer spring, but if you removed that, the gun certainly wouldn't fire. |
