And it's like throwing a deck chair off the Queen Mary. I still need to lose at least 60 more pounds just to get to "Overweight'.

Don't let yourself get fat.

The better question is HOW DID YOU GET THERE?

What is changing?

I went from 220 to 180 to all the way to 150 but went up to 180 again and losing it again.

Lessons learned from me is that IT HAS TO BE A LIFESTYLE change that is 180 degrees from what you ate, what you do for activities, etc, etc , etc.

People keep thinking, well I will diet and l will lose weight and then one year to two years later, they gain it all back.

Why???

No lifestyle change.....

I have to get on the weight loss boat myself.  I need to lose about 30 pounds.  It doesn't come off so easy when you're 50.  I walk my dog 7 days a week but need to cut back on the food too.

Going through that now...This time last year I was 275-280...Now Im 230 and still overweight/obese.

Trying to lose another 40-50 by the end of the year but its a challenge.

Those that have said it is a lifestyle change are absolutely correct also.  After the death of my paretns I went through a two year period of my life where all I did when I was not working was eat and watch TV.  Huge meals also...chinese take out, mexican take out etc...I was probably consuming 2500-3000 calories a day.

I still struggle with the food aspect at times, but I am MUCH better now than I was...

Best of luck to you.

I guess I'm the oddball because I gain weight when I'm stressed.

Lifestyle change gives a lifetime regulation of weight.

Change your lifestyle and it will change your life and help keep the weight off forever.

You're doing great, OP. Keep pushing! It is SOOO worth it. You will have a new perspective of life.

I lost 175 pounds, took me 1.75 years of straight dieting. Looking back, it was one of the defining moments of my life. My quality of life has increased tenfold. I am incredibly blessed to have lost the weight, God is good.

I'm changing the way I ea, not dieting. I'm not trying to get to a certain weight, and I see the weight loss as a product of the changes in how I eat. My real goal is to not get diabetes, heart disease  or cancer.

Congrats. Personally I am down about 70 lbs. in the past 1.5 years.

I didn't gain it in 3 months, don't expect to lose it that fast either.

I weighed 306#s last October and now I'm 260#s. I work through my lunch time and leave early, then eat a modest meal at about 4-5 in the afternoon. Rarely do I eat sweets anymore. I have a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios at about 04:30 and an apple at 09:00.

It feels so good to have lost so much weight.  I don't make those sounds of distress when I put my shoes on or when I get up out of a chair.

My waist went from a very tight 44" to a lose 40" and my belt has several extra holes in it.

Not trying for any specific weight as a target. Just seeing where this new lifestyle takes me.

Me too! Went on a 'modified' paleo diet (modified as in I still drink beer...) and dropped from 210 to 185 lbs in 3 months. By body seems to have settled at 185, so I'll have to ramp up my gym visits from twice a week to every other day if I want to cut the last 15 lbs.

We get free access to a small fitness facility next door beginning early May. Maybe some aerobic exercise will help plus drinking more water.

Dropped 18 pounds so far by dropping most carbs from my diet.  It has been easy enough, and I am pretty sure I will just keep doing it, even after the 20-30 more I would like to lose.  It has been over a month and is now relatively automatic.   I am mostly uninterested in cheat days, or that sort of thing, as I get plenty of meat, and veggies in, and that is what I really like.   I will have some mashed potatoes with Easter dinner tonight though, as my wife makes awesome spuds.

Good on you, Steve.  I fee much better for it, and I am sure you do too.  :)
