I noticed people weren't as big of assholes when I stopped 15 years ago.
Then I discovered they weren't being assholes, I was. Most folks are genuinely glad to see me these days. |

51 days here. Keep on keepin' on. Life's never been so good. View Quote Awesome, HK... When I first got sober (Oct 7, 1994), people with multiple years of sobriety didn't mean jack shit to me. It was unimaginable. But when I saw someone with 51 days, I was like "Wow! How could anyone stay sober for so long?" Maybe I can do it too! Guys like you have a lot to offer someone who is just a couple of days sober. You be grateful; we'll be proud (of you)...... |

Good for you. Keep up the hard work. It speaks to peoples willpower and spirit to overcome the problems in their life. Prayers out to you for strength when you need it.

Well done OP. I am going through some similar issues and your post gives me strength. God Bless you and your battle. Be strong and I will find strength in your perseverance.
I am 7 days clean from the drug of my choice (not the place to name my vice). I am 3 days clean from 41 years chewing tobacco. I quit cigarettes 2 1/2 years ago. I have lost 34 pounds since January 1st. and only have 15 more to reach my goal. Now if I could find some joy in life, my family would be happier and so would I. Sometimes doing the right thing is a BITCH! Oh,,, Happy Easter to all of the men and women of Arcom. |

Good show to all who've found a solution in not drinking.
32 years, 5 months, 3 days WRT no EtOH, 31 years, 4 months, 23 days of no tobacco. |

Day One here.
Congrats to those of you who are ahead of me. Wish me luck. Time to resurrect my life and potential. Easter is as good a day as any I guess. |
|
Congrats OP. Looking forward to that 2yr mark myself.
Any particular method you used or just quit? |
|
Thanks OP
Most don't realize that if you make yourself better, you make the world better. |
|
Thanks OP,
I've had some recent problems that had to do with beer, I don't wish to go into it just read between the lines. Today is just as good as any the day to stop, and I had been thinking about it for a while now. Thanks, I guess today will be the day I need to start counting foreword |

Good work OP!
Just over a year for me; since I found out I was going to be a dad at 38 I'm going to have to stay alive and keep working a long time.. |

Basically like I said in a previous post I just go one day at a time saying "hey I may fall off the wagon tomorrow, but not today, I ain't gonna drink today" then the next day I do the same thing. One day at a time, it's just that simple. |
|
Congrats...I went from drinking and partying nearly every weekend to not drinking at all for the most part...Don't miss it one fucking bit. One a month i might have a beer or glass of wine or something, but thats it and even that I regret somewhat.

Good for you. Never, ever give in. You are past the worst of it, but it's a DAILY fight.
I have deep admiration for people like you who fight the good fight, and win, each and every day. I am sure there are people here who wish they had your strength. You are a role model. Keep it up, please. |

Quoted: I wasn't gonna post on this but there were some incredible words of wisdom in another thread that really hit home with me. "When you struggle at life you seek comfort in alcohol. I'd say that is a good sign that maybe you have an unhealthy relationship with the "hooch". A simple life is a good life. " Fella 4-20-14 I have 2 years sobriety today, I'm not gonna lie there are times I struggle with it. There are Friday nights I would love to get smashed but I know ultimately it will complicate my life and not in a good way. Life is good, sobriety is good. If you don't have issues with booze, more power to ya I envy you. If you do think you have a problem, give sobriety a shot, life will be more simple AND because of sobriety it will continue to simplify. You can do it, and life will be what it should. View Quote Congrats brother. I'm beginning to truly think that a simpler life is in my future. Too much "stuff" and not nearly enough freedom. |

You are a good, strong man. I'm glad you found your strength, and I'm happy for you.

Good work man. I can relate, three years sober in February. I have had some tough times and almost lost the struggle, but the whole "one day at a time" really does work!
|

3 years here. You don't realize just how many struggle with alcohol till you look and then you realize you not alone. Good luck.
