The North American Hunting Club junk mail thread got me thinking about the NRA, and there is quite a bit of hate one here for being a firearms forum. So ARF, how many of you do(or don't) support the NRA?

I've never understood why gun owners would hate the most effective pro-gun lobby in the country. Even in states that repeatedly elect a majority of anti-gun politicians the NRA is still present and fighting.

Yes life member, anyone even if you don't support all their ideas should be a member they are the largest lobbiest we have supporting our right to keep and bear arms

I would support them showing more of a "Second Amendment" less of a "Lets Go Hunting" public appearance.
I know this will anger some and they will say prove it with links that they don't or that they already do and I am a weenie or some other name calling. I am a member. I am currently trying to decide if I am going to continue to be a member. |

While I Dont agree with everything they do, or some of the REALLY Shitty agreements they've made in the past, they and SAF are really the only game in town IMO..which is why i bought a Life membership. |

Are their more competition shooters or hunters? Hunters. The NRA does a good job at balancing all 4 areas but hunters by far is the largest group of firearm owners. So why would the NRA abandon them and focus only on the minority fringe of gun owners? |

Member here.
I have purchased several gift memberships as well. |

I would be a life member if I had the coin, especially since they give certain veterans a better deal. Why would gun owners and supporters of the 2A not support the NRA? I would like them to make it more obvious that our 2A is not about hunting and sports and I've told them that in surveys. I'm not in charge though and I support anyone that promotes freedom, big or small.
Oh and Jesus has risen. Happy Easter |

Maybe when my kids are grown and out of the house. Until then it's just single-year memberships for me. |

I love these polls that put the vocal antis in the spotlight.

There are hardly any mentions of hunting in the AR magazine except when they are reviewing an actual hunting type gun. I've never heard them talk about gun ownership rights in the context of hunting. Not one time ever. You're not a member or you would know this. I recommend that you just stay the fuck out of the NRA I just don't understand guys like you, a five year old can see the political value of the NRA, but you go on a website and write these lies and do Hillary's job for her. Dispicable |

Yep. I was the director of a small bore program for a few years. The NRA gave us a grant that provided new rifles and equipment. Any pro-gun person who doesn't support the NRA is a fool. They do far more to support the cause than most people realize.

Life Member here.
My understanding is, the NRA sent over a rep to help push the SBR/SBS bill that recently passed in Michigan. |

View Quote To many people, it seems like the NRA exists only to promote the NRA, and not the protection of the rights of gun owners. To me, it seems that the NRA does very little when put in perspective with their huge membership and donation numbers. They are the biggest, but I don't see a great power to weight ratio. I was a member/donor, and might be again one day, but they don't get my money at this time. |

I was going to post "in before too much mail". No fair mentioning it in the OP
Yes, I support the NRA.
