I am seriously considering buying either a new 2014 Jeep Wrangler or Ford Mustang. They are both iconic American vehicles and I can think of many good reasons to buy either one. I am looking for hive input here, maybe raising issues or benefits I have not thought of previously. Price is not a concern, the versions of each I am looking at are roughly the same price (Mustang V6 Premium or Wrangler basic model with removable hardtop). So what does the hive think? I realize they are two different animals entirely, which is kind of my point in asking, make your case for either one. They are both equally practical in my opinion, just designed for different types of driving. I will give any feedback consideration (serious type of course, given this is GD).
Edit to add: Thanks for all the responses, especially the thoughtful posts. It looks like the thread is running about 2/3's in favor of a Jeep Wrangler. I am now leaning towards the Jeep based on some of the comments. As one guy posted, you cannot really use the Mustang to it's full advantage as far as speed/handling. Whereas the Jeep can do the daily driver thing just as well, plus go off-road. I find it interesting that a 305hp V-6 is now regarded as a girls car. Hell, my 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS 327 V-8 that I had in high school was only rated at about 275hp. |

Wranglers are great I drove one for 13 years I highly recommend one as a second vehicle,
buy the Mustang |

v6 mustang?
edit I had a buddy who bought a v6 mustang decades ago, he is still teased about it. It's probably a million times better than a jeep if you aren't going off road, which probably 90% of people never do

Before you buy a 2014 Mustang, wait for the 2015... big improvements coming.

V6 mustang sort of defeats the purpose of owning a mustang IMO. Wrangler with the Pentastar is pretty quick actually. I'll guess the V6 mustang is only a second or 2 quicker 0-60. Great off-road capability and the ability to drop the top and take off the doors with the jeep. I'll bet resale is better with the jeep too.

Not wrong but not exactly right. V8 Mustang, no point in a 6cyl. If you ain't gonna spring for the V8, at least get the Jeep with 4WD. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Tell him that MOPAR sells touch up paint in a spray can. |

Didn't even know the Wrangler came in 2wd. Always wanted a Wrangler but when push came to shove, I chose the Tacoma 4WD. Maybe as a second vehicle I'll take a chance with the Wrangler. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

You save money. |

Who says you have to go off-road? Jeeps are fun off or on the road IMO and if it ever snows is SC your golden.

So you're clueless as to why you want them?
They're completely different vehicles for completely different purposes. Figure out what you're going to do with it and then you'll be not so clueless. I vote for the Jeep so I can go off-roading and camping with it. |

Had both and love both.
If you don't need a 4X4 you certainly should get the mustang. I have a truck so will probably get my third mustang ( none currently) later this year. |

Who buys a V6 mustang? Get the Jeep, now if it were a V8 mustang, I would still go jeep butit would be close. I have an 03 wrangler Rubicon that has been DD for 6 years I have no complaints.
