I don't know if I am just get older or what. The hobbies I enjoy, few others do. I have a handful of great friends and family who relate.

I like and participate/immerse myself in;

Shooting Flintlocks to SP1's.
Swords and Fencing
Martial Arts
Home Brewing Beer
Shaving with a Double Edge Razor
Playing NES
Bodybuilding
80's Hair Bands
Debate
Chess
Canoeing
Hiking
Hunting

Most of my contemporaries in close proximity are buying bigger and bigger boats, bigger and bigger breasts for the girlfriends they have that are half their ages, and bigger and bigger houses to fill with more and more useless junk.
Few of them ever seem too terribly happy and always need the latest, best thing.

Tell me that I am not the only one who likes things better the way they were as opposed to how they are? I am feeling like an old codger...almost.

What is your old fashioned hobby and/or passion?

You can move to Arizona and drink some homebrew with me...but, I'm still gonna talk about big titties, so I'm not sure that solves your issues.

Somehow I picture you looking like Fabio, wearing a black belt and a head band while playing chess and listening to Poison.

Sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair, chewing tobacco, and yelling at kids.

Alright, my old-timey pass-time is wood turning.  That seems to be even more dominated by old men than other types of wood working.

My other is shooting from a bench.  I call the 100+ yard bench section of my favorite range "Old Man's Row", because it seems to be were all the fat old men hang out.

Blacksmithing, who the hell blacksmiths anymore. It's basically useless in the modern world but people buy the shit out of stuff I make as long as it looks handmade.

I started carving waterfowl decoys by hand this winter and really like it.  With learning to carve came learning to paint them obviously.  I am carving them from foam right now because it is cheap(er) to learn on.  I also became interested in the folk art and traditions of decoys from various areas of the country.  I plan to carve some out of cork and wood eventually, but I absolutely can't wait to hunt over my own own hand carved decoys this fall.

Before paint

This is the one closer to the camera above, almost done with paint.

I cure meats and keep them hanging around the house.

I don't have time for many hobbies, I try to incorporate what I do into something that is constructive for the household.

Next up, wine making.

If I won the lottery I would move out in the middle of nowhere, have a shop where I could tinker with antique cars, motorcycles, tractors, and machines, have a forge and smith things for the hell of it, a personal gun range, make my own alcoholic beverages, and a hobby farm.

Coal and propane, I prefer propane for forge welding but there is something I love about using coal.

Black powder, blacksmithing, woodworking, a good plug tabbaco, cartridge collecting, doing the bucksking and civil war stuff, and reading and exploring local historical sites.

I'm in my 30's and have very little in common with people in my age group.
