I agree with the sentiment, but anyone with 20 years of service deserves better. This is almost certainly a crock of crap. I would step up and fight for her if that were my town. The mayor would be gone within a month and she would be reinstated--assuming there isn't more to the story. I certainly don't trust the media to report accurately and honestly. Anyone described as "openly gay" is always suspect in my world, but on the surface this sounds like a travesty. 
Edit: I carefully read the article-- The chief had recently discovered during an investigation that the town's parks and recreations director Vontray Sellers had operated a city vehicle with a suspended license.
During the probe, Moore found that Bullard failed to conduct a proper background check on Sellers before giving him the job. The mayor is a corrupt prick. I'd have him gone within a month.

Despite what her views are, it should bother you that someone can be summarily fired simply because their boss doesn't agree with their beliefs. And being gay doesn't make her anti-gun. My lesbian boss is pretty gun friendly. I don't think she knows I carry at work, but she knows I have my permit to carry (couple weeks ago we were out drinking, and when I grabbed my ID, also grabbed my permit and it fell on the counter), and I also carry an automatic knife that I use daily at work. eta: I was getting paid OT to "help with yardwork," in other words do some yard work and drink beers. She was riding shotgun all day in my truck with the Larue Extemely Rightwing sticker on the back window. |
