My father is a devout Mormon. He has never (since his teens anyway) drank caffeine or alcohol, or smoked or otherwise used tobacco. He is 63 and has two kinds of arthritis, has had skin and prostate cancer, and is in generally poor health. He's not overweight either, and he has been active all his life outdoors. I'm not convinced that good old "clean living" is the be-all end-all of remaining healthy all your life. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

no, but the liver has taken its share of abuse in a valiant effort to save the brain.

Quality of life beats living 100 years without any sort of pleasure of joy, just in my opinion.

Why do you care what I do to my body OP?
Was a pack a day smoker for 10 years although I recently quit. Drink a beer or two sometimes on weeknights and usually more than a few on my days off. Drink a red bull when I wake up everyday and coffee throughout my 12 hour mid shift when I work. Life is fucking terminal, I've never understood why people spend their entire lives worrying about what might kill them. It's gonna happen either way motherfuckers! Enjoy it while you can! |

Oh...sure....all that shit's just fine....but get caught jerkin'-off just once....
|
|
Well then shit you need to see mine. hahahahahahahahaha................................oh gosh I'm worried, that might explain my mood swings.

Caffeine and nicotine together....at least one is bad, but we'll say both? What's that all about.

Nobody is going to claim that those things are good for the brain. But those pictures are bullshit scare tactics.
Besides, if you mix the alcohol and caffeine, they cancel each other out. |

Until then, he’d denied there was a problem. Large amounts of alcohol close up blood vessels in the brain,
causing cells to die off, especially in the prefrontal cortex - these ‘dead spots’ are the two craters you can see at the top of this picture. The prefrontal cortex directs and supervises your behaviour - damage can lead to poor judgment, weak control of impulses and an increased risk of depression. Look up the history of beer and getting people to attend church...

And just think, one round of 5.56 in a millisecond can cause even more damage then adding every one of those "drugs" together over multiple decades.

Take it with a grain of salt. SPECT is still kinda voodoo when it comes to causation. Just about anything can cause abnormal SPECT results and the damage is cumulative. So that dead spot could be from drugs, alcohol, chemicals, mental illness, playing football, etc.

Two Die at Marathon Finish line ETA: I don't smoke, anything. Alcohol maybe once a month. Haven't had a soda in three years. No prescription medicines. I do eat some sugary snacks on occasion. Moderate work outs 3-4 times a week |
