Something older?  How about a SIG AMT? Or maybe a BM 59?

If I wanted another .308 semiauto I would go with an AR pattern rifle.

You could find a shooter-grade HK-91 for $2100. Mags are only a few dollars each, so you can pile them up for less than $100. I like my Portuguese G3S but they aren't as common as HKs for some reason.

I am looking for another .308  rifle to add to the collection.  I want the rifle to be somewhat lightweight as I intend to shoot offhand with it, for example, the Sig 716 is too heavy for this requirement.  In addition, a 1:12 or 1:11 twist would be preferred as I plan to only shoot 149 grain bullets out of the gun.  My current budget is $2100

.308 Rifles I currently own:
1.Scar 17s
2.M1A scout
3.Sig 716
4.Remington 700 AAC-SD
.
308 rifles to ugly to own:
     1.     FN FAL
    2.      VEPR .308

Should I just continue saving and buy another SCAR 17s? THIS
Should I get an M1A socom?
Arfcom, help me want a gun I don’t yet know exists.

No shit.  I don't have any desire for one, or any .308, but that thing is beautiful.  And an icon.  OP already has a rifle for every situation.  If he can't get an FAL, I've got nothing for him.

That pic is angling the ugly parts away.  I just really don't like the way the receiver, pistol grip, and most of all trigger guard look on a FAL.
The SCAR is so amazing in every other way that its humble appearance can be overlooked and even starts to grow on you.
So far doing my own build appears to be the best option.

2.  FN-FAL  (Get over it)
3.  HK-91

He has a Remy 700.  Maybe a trade?

I am thinking more of a Canadian "Sneak" Poly or Norinco M1A.  Of course, then he would hate all his short barrel stuff.

I have an older M1A Standard when they were coming with a lot of HI parts. I have lately been entertaining the idea of swapping for an AR pattern 308.
