Yep.
Keaton will always be the best Batman and Jack will always be the best Joker. |

I agree wholeheartedly. Joker wasn't just a twisted psychopath, he had a little bit of classiness. Ledger didn't nail that like Jack did.

Opinions of the best Batman and Joker are generational IMO. For example I think that Jack Nicholson's joker was hokey and cartoonish.

Nobody will ever beat Ledger's Joker.
Batman...eh, Afleck will make all the previous ones look like Adam West. |

I think Keaton did a great job as Batman. I can't stand the gravely voices of the latest Batmans for some reason and am not a huge fan of the darker themes.

I like them both for different reasons. Both did a great job.
But the old Batman had Jack Nicholson AND Jack Palance. It's nigh impossible to beat that. |

The animated series Batman with Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker is better. I just can't buy Keaton as a bad ass. I think he's a great actor but that's a stretch.

I don't mind that it's darker and more serious, bkeut to me the voice just takes me right out of it. It's like cheesey, overdramatic cartoon voice acting. It makes me want to laugh more than take him serious. Hell the cheesey voice would have fit the Michael Keaton Batman better than the Christian Bale version. |

View Quote Nicholson was doing the comic book Joker, and he did an outstanding job. "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" "Bob, gun." Ledger was more a "reinterpretation". A good one at that, but he could take liberties with the character that Nicholson didn't. Keaton... <meh> |

They both stand out in their own little niche. Keaton's Batman was quirky and kinda 60's comic book serious. Bale's is the dystopic, foreboding dark knight. They both shine. |

Ledger's performance made the movie
if I catch it on tv I end up watching the whole thing every single time and its not because of lispy bathhhman's acting Ledger's Joker is creepy as hell Jack's Joker is just.... Jack |

I enjoyed them all, even the bad ones, in different ways. Won't even argue which Batman was "best"...
... but Clooney was the best/most believable "Bruce Wayne" (in terms of playing the comic book alter ego, convincing others that he was a spoiled playboy, incapable of heroics, etc.). Adam West did it well back in the day (even as campy as that show was), Clooney nailed it (and it pains me to praise him about anything!), and none of the others were even close in that regard. JMHO. |

Watched some of "Batman" recently. I don't think it help up well at all. As I was watching it, I was wondering, "Why did we like this so much. It's stupid."

All we really had for reference for a "live" batman , and it's characters when the Keaton batman came along, was the campy tv series. Sure the really dark comics were out there, but nothing in live tv or movies.
I look at the Keaton version as being a transitional batman, one that was darker than the series, but that held fast to many of the visuals. It was a needed bridge to get to the really gritty batman movies that came later, I think Keaton, Nicholson and the others did an excellent job in providing that link. It worked, and made the really dark interpretations possible. |

I'd agree with that................there's room for both Jokers
Now if you want to talk terrible villains, The Riddler and Two-Face, played by Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones, were awful Quoted:
