I've had a Sears .22 semi-auto since I was about 12 (currently a geezer) and a few years ago I got my first 1911. Even though I trained on the M16A1 in the Army I'd never considered owning an AR until that fateful day I spotted one in the gun case at Walmart. Next thing I knew I was fondling a 6920. Before I quite realized what was happening my credit card was out of my wallet and I was filling out a 4473. After a while I found myself ordering a BCM middie upper which I swapped on and off the Colt lower. Then PSA put their lowers on sale so I made the middie into a complete rifle. Next I bought a DPMS .22 upper which I swapped on and off the PSA lower. Then PSA put their lowers on sale again, so I had to make the .22 into a complete rifle. I think I'm good until someone starts another AR pistol thread, then I start sweating and checking my bank balance. So far I've resisted.
