I just find it odd that the feds can waste a million bucks chasing cattle in the desert that are Illegal and not try to arrest 1 illegal person crossing the border.
Can someone think of 1 good thing the gov has done in the past 5 years, I sure cant and this doesn't help build trust with the avg American and its only going to get worse
as time goes on.

Bundy's getting the bill for the 1 million, IIRC, so the Feds aren't wasting anything.

Because sending him a bill has worked so well in the past

That bill also including reducing his # of cows effectively putting him out of business.

No idea why people keep missing that part.

The weight of history and the us vs. them mentality is dangerously close to a widespread violent expression.  The feds may start hunting for 100's of people they think are involved, start shooting up grannies in their pickup trucks, piss off more people, then call the victims of their incompetence who retaliate terrorists, etc. until the low-bar branches of federal law enforcement like the BLM, TSA and BATFE has turned their worst fears into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Good stuff.  They will prosecute the case until they get a win.  All evidence be damned. The divorce (family) law court works in an identical manner. All evidence that contradicts their per-determined outcome is ignored.

My favorite part of the whole thing - “By locating projects in areas of high development potential and low resource conflict, the BLM is providing a more predictable process for industry while ensuring better outcomes for communities and the environment,” said Principal Deputy Director Neil Kornze.

High development potential - Yes, for greedy politicians to line their pockets.

Low resource conflict?  That's not what you told Clive Bundy and the other ranchers.  The cattle that have been there for the past 120+ years apparently started causing "problems" back in 1993.
Or do you admit that this area is indeed "low resource conflict" and Bundy's cattle aren't really the problem; the only problem is they're in the way of "High Development Potential".

Better outcomes for communities?  Really!?!  You have a ranching community in rural Nevada and you've chased and bullied away, at minimum, 53 ranchers and all of their cattle so far.

At times I have been caught up in the finite details of this incident. While the details are important, it seems we are losing sight of the forest through the trees.
Bundy himself has said this isn’t about his cows. There are valid points on both sides, but we owe Mr. Bundy and his family credit for drawing a lot of attention to the much larger issues we face.

For me, the recent incident at the Bundy Ranch is not about cattle. It is not about turtles. It isn’t about grazing fees or land access.

It IS about preserving this Constitutional Republic that so many of us love.

It IS about too much Federal Government.

It IS about state’s rights.

“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State.” James Madison

It IS about the growing burden on taxpayers.

It IS about no federal budget in 6 years.

It IS about insane, out of control spending.

It IS about $17.5 Trillion in debt

It IS about $128 Trillion in unfunded liabilities

It IS about the interest payment on our debt to China in 2014 will fully fund their entire military.

“There are two ways to conquer and enslave a country. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” John Adams

It IS about a representative government that reflects the will of the people.

It IS about the Oath of Office taken by those that are chosen by the people to represent them:

I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

It IS about 1500 page laws being passed in Congress without lawmakers reading what they are voting for.

“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be tomorrow.” James Madison

It IS about not providing adequate security to those deployed in harm's way and then pathologically lying about it.

It IS about not putting the health and well being of those who fought for this nation at the top of our national priorities.

“The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of early wars were treated and appreciated by our nation.”  George Washington

It IS about tyranny.

It IS about countless laws against the 2nd Amendment.

It IS about the federal government targeting opposing political views with the IRS.

It IS about domestic spying.

It IS about securing our borders.

It IS about federal agencies and high ranking federal employees habitually lying to Congress and to the American People

It IS about the Attorney General being held in Contempt of Congress

It IS about the Senate Majority leader changing the rules of the Senate

It IS about First Amendment “Areas”

It IS about lobbyist and special interest money going to those in office.

“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” James Madison

“When the people find that they can vote themselves money that will herald the end of the republic.” Benjamin Franklin

From an article by Jonathan Turley, Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at George Washington University and has testified before Congress on the dangerous expansion of presidential powers.

In the summer of 1787, a crowd gathered around Independence Hall to learn what type of government their representatives had formed for the new nation. When Benjamin Franklin walked out of the Constitutional Convention, Mrs. Powel could wait no longer. Franklin was one of the best known of the “Framers” working on the new US Constitution. Powel ran up to Franklin and asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin turned to her and said what are perhaps the most chilling words uttered by any Framer.

He said, “A republic, Madam, if you can keep it.”

Franklin’s words were more than a boast. They were a warning. The curious thing about a democratic system is that it contains the seeds of its own demise. Freedom is not something guaranteed by any parchment or promise. It is earned by each generation which must jealously protect it from threats, not only from outside, but from within a nation.

I was lamenting this in another thread yesterday.  Thanks to its heritage, English is a rich and diverse language with so many words to express our ideas.  Its vocabulary is one of, if not the, largest.  There is no reason that the definition for "ethnic cleansing" should be so broad as to include the Holocaust and a stupid Washington school trying to increase the percentage of minorities on campus.  It's ridiculous.  Likewise, calling this terrorism cheapens the word.  What do we call 9/11 now?  Super-terrorism?

I was lamenting this in another thread yesterday.  Thanks to its heritage, English is a rich and diverse language with so many words to express our ideas.  Its vocabulary is one of, if not the, largest.  There is no reason that the definition for "ethnic cleansing" should be so broad as to include the Holocaust and a stupid Washington school trying to increase the percentage of minorities on campus.  It's ridiculous.  Likewise, calling this terrorism cheapens the word.  What do we call 9/11 now?  Super-terrorism?

Who are you to question the epistomological wizardry of a valid representative of democracy?

Being able to question representatives is the whole point of our system.

Yeah... I have a question, when we have a popular government bound by laws it hasn't followed for three generations and has about a 10% approval rating, where does it get its authority? Answer: from the barrel of a gun.

First,  'We can't have an American people violate the law and walk away from it.'

Then,  'They're nothing more than domestic terrorists.'

BLM might need to lend him that backhoe.  Maybe a dumptruck, or two, if he keeps going.

That narrows it down to about 3,000 different decisions.  Can you narrow it down to the approximate year or petitioner?

Make chart or someshit. I've seen your work in the MH370 thread.

I just came into this thread with the intention to post that my cousin had emailed me a link to infowars and when I watched it, it was saying much of what I was saying in most of my posts.  I hadn't watched any Alex Jones had posted of put up YouTube because I think his stuff is generally suspect. I wanted to see who in here thought I was acting as an infowar mouth piece and assure them I wasn't.

I click on the little green arrow and what do I see?  Little Ol' Harry Reid, calling those exercising their 1st and 2nd amendment rights, "terrorists".

That had better send chills up your spine!!!

The dude is annoying as heck and I think he does more harm than good just to stir the pot or sell a water filter but he does promote the 2A and freedom.  Like so many have said; a blind hog will find an acorn every now and then, but the more attention this situation gets the better.

Pro freedom???  You don't get it.....Reid is not pro gun, he panders just enough to stay elected.  He is evil and a threat to us all.  Don't be naive, it's thinking like this that keeps really bad politicians in office forever

I had to read d_b's post twice myself, but I believe he was referring to Alex Jones, not Sen. Reid.
