Welcome to the brotherhood, my man. You're one of the enlightened few.
The answer is ALWAYS Miata. And when it's not, the answer is wagon.

Sweet ride. I am in the market as well. I supercharged an NA for a friend years ago. What a blast. I fit better in the NB though I always felt a bit too tall for the NA. I really want an s2000 though.

I dated a girl in about 95 who had one of those. I used to steal it and go drive the hell out of it, it was like driving a go cart
on city streets. Seriously fun little cars. |

When we put the super charger on my buddies it really made it insane to drive and it was only like 150 if that hp. You could break the rear wheels loose whenever. There is all sorts of aftermarket support for adding turbos. |

I have had three of these! Great cars, keep the drain holes clean or rust will set in.

The motors are actually over-engineered to a certain degree. They take boost well. Until you get stupid crazy with it, about all that's really required is a stronger clutch.

I have heard the Miata described as "An Alfa Romeo Spyder that actually runs."

The little 1.6 and 1.8s can really take a beating. The Mazdaspeed versions had some significant drawbacks to the size of the intercooler and turbo. Fortunately FlyingMiata made a bunch of upgrades for the car which put it right into the sweet spot. |

Congrats on your new ride. Bought my son a 97 before he went away to college. They are fun to drive. The original body style (pre 98) were the best looking Miatas.

Under the hood yank the power steering and AC and loop the steering box Toss in a set of Bilstein HDs, a pair of stiffer sway bars, some sticky rubber and drive the wheels off of her. |

To me, it kind of ruins the character of the car. At some point, I have to think you're better off starting with a different car. It's like watching guys run Civics deep into the 9's in the quarter. Neato (I guess), but...really? A twin screw huffer is really all that's needed. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Any suggestions? That's an easy fix (depending on what is wrong), if you need to pop the center console to check tension it is held in with just a few screws under the ashtray and in the armrest. Just make sure to pull off of the gear shift knob (rotate it counter clockwise) and it'll screw off. It's as simple as lifting it out. The parking brake is the rear brakes, outside of the cable it should be fairly straightforward and simple. Check out this article: http://www.miata.net/garage/ebrake/index.html Everything is placed in channels and its easy to find. You'll find the NA to be a remarkably well built car. |
