Chief Eden called the shooting justified today saying officers also used non-lethal force, first throwing a flash bang then releasing a dog while simultaneously using a taser gun and bean bag rounds. LiveLeak |

Dude with the helmet cam, came close to shooting a fellow officer.

there's no way that shoot is justified.
looks pretty bad to me. |

View Quote It looks really bad, especially since he turned to run...however, he pulled the knife out with a bunch of guys pointing guns at him. He clearly had bad intentions towards them. they shot about the time he turned to run. All that said, this is going to be a huge shitstorm. |

Looks like they did not give the less than lethal option any real time to work, FB, taser and right to live fire despite the distance between them.

The Police Chiefs Justification
"Chief Eden said officers fired because Boyd made a direct threat at the canine officer who was unarmed." |
|
Cameras give false sense of distance but it looks like they could have held off for a bit since he was well covered but hey, I wasn't there.

I didn't get that feeling from the actions or the dialogue in the video. Interesting how geared up they were for an "illegal" homeless camper, so that could indicate A) the illegal homeless camper was a serious threat (maybe an ex-delta seal recon ranger trained in martial knife killing techniques) or B) Bought it so gotta use it as much as possible. I have a feeling it won't be long until these deployed cops stop wearing hero pros or having technical difficulties with the recordings when FOIA requests arrive. |

Happened about 10 minutes from my house. APD has a history of shoot first, ask questions later attitudes. They are currently under invesitgation for killing many other "suspects." This one is not helping them.

ok, I can mabey understand the initial shooting (hypothetically, after hearing the full story)
but laying in that position on the ground he was no immediate danger to the officers as long as they kept their distance. they had a huge advantage over him if he were to try anything. was he even still alive at the point that they were shooting him with bean bags and sendig the dog to tear his ass up? |

He wasn't a knife wielding, raving lunatic, as far as I could tell. As it stands, I have to call, "bad shoot". In any event, if this guy has any family, I'm sure this won't simply go away. |

Was that in the Middle East?
Was the suspect a terrorist or something? Oh I forgot that the local PD needs to be wearing SWAT gear every time they need to make contact with a camper... |

Was that in the Middle East? Was the suspect a terrorist or something? Oh I forgot that the local PD needs to be wearing SWAT gear every time they need to make contact with a camper... Go back in your wormhole. Boyd was arguing with police for more three hours last Sunday in the foothills after officers went to talk to him about illegally camping in open space.
At the press conference Friday, Chief Eden released video of the moment officers first contacted Boyd. When one officer went to frisk Boyd, the homeless camper could then be heard refusing to comply saying he was a government agent. The video shows that Boyd continued to refuse officer commands and began threatening them. “I’m almost going to kill you right now. Don’t give me another directive. Don’t attempt to give me, the Department of Defense, another directive,” said Boyd at the beginning of the incident. As the hours passed, Chief Eden said an APD Crisis Intervention Team officer and a State Police liaison were called to the scene. Both attempted to speak with Boyd, however, Chief Eden says Boyd continued to threaten officers. Police also discovered that Boyd had a violent 20-year criminal history that included multiple incidents of violence against officers. |

View Quote Just google Albuquerque Police shooting and you'll get more than your share of videos and stories of "questionable" shoots. Granted the area isn't great but the PD here is out of control. |

Why is SWAT out there dealing with a homeless guy that is illegally camping?

Cop with AR fired once guy turned, bad reaction and trigger hungry. This could have been resolved much more efficiently. Bad Shoot!

I've heard about this guy when I was working in the MKUltra program. Appears his specialty was a behind his back knife attack. He'd been out of HAARP control for awhile now and all our CHEMTRAIL attempts to bring him back to the corral have failed. Those officers are lucky to be alive. |
