I've done it in the past. Succeeded, then failed. I'll be going with Carnival. They've cracked down a lot over the last few years. This'll be my 5th sailing.
Stories of success and failures would be helpful. I'm leaning toward doing a couple decent size water bottles refilled with vodka and putting new caps on so they look sealed. I saw a video where a guy went so far as to use a soda stream soda maker to pressurize the bottles for added effect. I understand I can buy alcohol on the boat, if you've ever cruised you'll know why I have an aversion to this. Frickin bar prices for booze they pick up duty free and tax free in other countries. Not interested. |

I learned two thing from a guy on my first cruise.
1. Sneaking alcohol on IV bags in your cargo pockets works great. 2. You can call room service and order up a bottle. They don't advertise it, but they did it, price was much better than bar drinks and that was all we needed for the rest of the trip. |
|
I bought 2 pints of vodka with plastic lids and put one in each cargo pocket and wore them onto the cruise

I'm going on a NCL cruise, out of Miami, on the 3rd of May.
Didn't think about bringing something on board, but this thread will be interesting to me. Good luck! Chris |

From what I heard from a friend, Contact solution bottles work great.
I'm guessing you would have to very extensively clean them, more so than a listerine bottle, however. |

Make sure you rinse the bottles with soap and water a ridiculous number of times. Otherwise it will taste like listerene. My last cruise bar tab was over $500 in addition to that (for the room, not just me) View Quote I've read that this isn't working so hot for some people anymore. Granted a lot of this is just chance anyway but some screeners logically questioned why someone needed a huge amount of mouthwash for like a weeks trip so they started taking the bottles out and checking them. If the seal is broken they can confiscate it. Not saying they will but Im looking for something more foolproof |

going on a disney cruise soon, probably gonna try the good ole Listerine bottle trick, hope it works

Do they search your bags or something? View Quote The first time I did it, no. Second time, apparently so. My wife and I both got noted in our luggage that they'd confiscated our beverages. Now admittedly I pushed my luck by putting a 1.75L Smirnoff in each of our bags. Supposedly they run all the bags through an xray machine like the airline does. Bottles stick out. |

Last time we cruised we used a sodastream to carbonate vodka and gin and put them in sprite zero bottles.
And bourbon in wine bottles. Get the ones with exposed corks and stickers on them, easy to get the label off and remove cork, drain, refill, relabel. Then just pay the corkage fee, still stupid cheaper. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Bottle service is your friend.
I feel like bottles of mouthwash is over the top. Tell them it's your anniversary. I got a free bottle of bubbly. |

Things must have changed a lot! OK, its been a few years, but drinks were a bargain, go into the bar or at the evening shows, mixed drinks were like $1.75, mid afternoon at the outdoor bar by the pool, daiquiris were $1, and they were damn good! Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, the Song of Norway, I guess this was back in the 70's, but prices for drinks were quite reasonable.

Why not save the expense of the cruise and buy booze and lay in an alley in your nearest city?

On our last cruise I just paid for the unlimited booze/soda/coffee package.
I looked at options for sneaking it on board, but decided to say to hell with it. I'm on vacation, I don't want to be sneaking around with alcohol like it's my high school prom. |

View Quote I saw those while googling but I didn't really understand the point? Their website says they show up on the xray as a solid object, is that supposed to be a good thing? Or do you just use these to carry them on your person? |

Moot point for me.
1. I don't drink. 2. I don't go on cruises. |

So bottles of wine in the bags don't work anymore
Use your prison purse; load up balloons full of booze and store it in your purse |

Do they search your bags or something? View Quote The Disney ship certainly did if the X-ray machine picked anything up. The Kershaw Leek in my pocket didn't make it through the passenger check nor did the Leek in my "checked" bag. While I was below listening to them tell me why I couldn't have any weapons on board I watched them confiscating all kinds of booze in all manner of containers and assorted other things like a lady's clothes iron. Why the hell she needed to bring that I have no idea. Their security guy didn't seem to appreciate my pointing out that the steak knives in the dining areas were most likely more dangerous than my Leek and not doubt easily misappropriated. The good news is that they returned both knives after departing at the end of the cruise. |

Sandals, ball cap, beer belly, binoculars, ankle holsters, belt buckle, duel ready flask holster, camera flask, iPhone flask, walking cane, sunscreen flask stadium Sipping seat hair brush flask, sneaky shorts, tie flask. tsa even missed most of these.

I used the larger monster energy cans...the plastic seal stays on the can. after you drink the drink just fill with what ever you want then reinstall the cap with the plastic still intact.

No need for fancy "smuggling." Get big gatorade bottle. Pour in clear alchohol. Add food coloring to match said "flavor" of gatorade. It was easy as shit for me to bring alky onboard.

Shit I remember walking on with a fifth in each back pocket in Key West. I also set my back back down on the scanner in Cozumel once and it sounded like half a dozen bottles of liquor rattling around, which it was, not a word said. Sucks they have cracked down.

Jesus F'n Christ, WHY? A Carnival cruise is like a low class Reno casino on a boat. Why do you need to sneak booze like it's high school prom?
For what it's worth, I took one cruise in my life. I was forced to go by the in-laws a couple of years ago. Carnival's "newest, largest, greatest" ship. Never again. I took a mixed case of wine (yes, that's right, 12 bottles) on board and ended up hitting it off with the head waiter assigned to our table and he never charged us for the corkage. Had multiple top shelf scotches in the cigar bar every night and just settled up every night afterward. No more expensive than drinking in a bar. Good grief. |
