Bought a 2004 Taco Xtracab today. Its a manual, 2.7L engine with 64K miles on it. It has new tires and I got the dealer to replace the rear bumper. They also took care of the frame recall so it has a new frame, suspension, bushings etc. Essentially, I bought a nearly new Taco for $19k.
I'm already looking at it thinking it needs a Class 3 hitch, maybe a truck box and other goodies. So, where are people spending their hard earned money for their Tacos. Pics will be up shortly.

I wouldn't have expected a 4cyl in the extra cab models.
I wouldn't bother with spending lots of dollars until you have it for a while and determine what you want/need. |

Dude 22k will get you a 2014 reg cab 4 cyl 4wd. I would guess 25-26 gets a ext cab.
As to your question about parts. I dont know but I know you wont find parts in the junkyard. I have never seen one newer than 96 in the junkyard. If the 4runner has compatible parts your more likely to find them. Try craigslist. |

I'd go get my money back. I bought a 2004 3.4l V6 double cap TRD 4wd for the same price 7 years ago from a dealership. It's my daily driver.

Tacos are best with beef...not chicken. You can get hamburger meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese AND taco sauce at the grocery store.

I've got a 2009 Tacoma base, 2.7 manual. Great little truck. Only thing I've done has been tires (30x9.5 fit with no clearance issues on factory rims). Lots of places to get stuff online. I'm going to assume your's is a 5-lug like mine. If so, your suspension options are pretty limited. |

I put it at oustanding (thats the highest option) condition and added some extras like wheels, seats, power everything.
Edmunds true market value still has it at $10k for dealer retail and $7k for private party. |

I'll go against the grain here and say, "It's worth exactly what someone will pay for it." We don't know how hard it is to come across that model in that config in that condition within 500 miles of you, so it very may well be worth what you paid after you factor in how bad you wanted that exact configuration. You are correct. KBB lists them with this mileage at just under $15k. However, the interior is flawless as is the body. When the dealer took it in December, they handled the recall and completely replaced the frame, suspension, bushing, etc as well as installed new tires. In essence, it is a structurally new truck with a clean Carfax. Going out 500 miles on the dealer broker sites, trucks with over 100K miles have been selling for close to $17k. So, yes it cost over KBB but you cannot find them in this type of condition, with this low of miles for less than $23k.
To answer other questions, new in this area would have cost over $35k. This one has everything I've been looking for without the sticker shock of a new vehicle. Lastly, in honor of of another reply, I think I'll take my TACO to the range with my SHOTTY and Wunder9 and wheel in some mud along the way

Hey that's how much I paid for my 2006 Nissan titan crew cab with 4x4, lots of options in cherry condition at 44k miles in 2010.
I picked up a 99 toyota with v6 2wd in 2004 with 70k miles for $14 out the door. |

Toyota still fixes the frames for free. So how can you add that to the value of the truck? 
And I've had two different tacomas, and Toyota pickups over the years. |
