If this is in the wrong spot I'm sorry!

Can someone, ANYONE, please tell me if this (top rifle) is what's called a M91/30 Parade Mosin Nagant? And if so maybe a little bit of its history and what it might be worth on today's market?

Don't know anything about it, but it's a sweet looking rifle!

You sure that's not a duracoated run of the mill rifle or something like that?

Interesting, I've never seen something like that before. Hope it's not just some bubba'd rifle.

I don't think even the Russians were that gaudy.

I'm pretty sure that's a bubba job.

Very cool if legit... I am skeptical though.

I googled parade mosin nagant and didn't see anything that looked remotely like that one.  So who knows.

Yeah I'm trying to find out more about it... I'm also looking at this Marlin model 55 bolt action 12ga with ported/micro choked barrel (but no magazine included).

The deal is $175 for the model 55 and regular M91/30 in the bottom of first pic, or $200 for the model 55 and black Mosin. What do you guys think?

http://7.62x54r.net/ is a pretty awesome resource for all things mosin related.

I didn't see anything over there remotely like that "parade rifle"

The model 55 with no mag is not worth $175 IMHO.

Cool. I'm searching for a factory mag for it to see what that'll set me back. I'll probably just get the regular Mosin with the model 55.

They run about $25 to $40 or so.

As others have said, that is just a Bubbafied regular Mosin. Looks like Duracoat. Tell Bubba it is most definitely not a "Parade Mosin" and his cheap attempt has sharply devalued the rifle. Offer him $75 for it if you want it.

Not sure on the stock but I also remember the chromed mosins for sale at Classic Arms.

I can't say for sure about the Russians, but the Red Chinese had some fancy SKSs that they used for ceremonial duties. The metal parts were nickel plated, and the stocks were bright red plastic. I saw a pair of them at a gun show about 5 or 6 years ago.

Well thanks for the reassurance guys. I was pretty skeptical about this because I had never seen one before. The seller got got because all he knows is that he bought a "parade" rifle. I'll probably just take the regular one for $75...

I love the hokey hammer and sickle on the stock.

Rounds out the whole package.

Probably a bubba special.  The Russians and most other bloc countries use SKS carbines for parade duty.

It's probably one of the rifles hard chromed by Classic Arms, right before AN EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!

Search for a collet for the external choke too. That's an old Poly-Choke or similar. Turn a collet to a point marked on the top of the barrel and you've just changed your choke without swapping a tube. Missing the collet and mag, I'd pay &75, add a $35 magazine and cut the barrel to use it as a slug gun.

No such as a " Parade " Mosin looking like that AFAIK.

OTOH if it has a good bore it would still be a nice shooter / hunter gun in rainy,  snowy climates.

No problem, based on that pic it looks like it's missing a buttplate too(not a big deal, that's a $3 part at the right place). Not knowing exactly which choke that is, if it were me I'd only buy it for purposes I already mentioned-a beater slug gun. It would be good for that purpose, so if you can get it for under $100 you might still get a deal-especially if you're able to install sights or a scope mount yourself.

I think you're right. I never noticed the the butt pad is missing. Good catch! We have already agreed on $150 for the model 55 and the regular M91/30. But I may see if I can haggle a little more when I meet up with him tomorrow and see if he'll go down to $140 or so for the two... I'll keep you guys posted.

Oh the seller got back with me yesterday when I asked him what the history of the "parade" mosin was... He said he found out it WAS just a regular mosin and a civilian did a number on it in the 80's to make it look like it does now... Of course it was in the 80's! Haha

Gave them a call... The lady that answered acted like I was stupid for even asking. She was like "Mmm, no those are long gone lots of people are looking for those. We have none!"

Well I don't know if I made a mistake or if I came out on top on this one... I ended up buying the entire lot of guns that this guy brought instead of just the model 55 and regular Mosin. I talked him down $20 more because I found out the regular Mosin that I wanted needs a new firing pin. But I paid $480 for everything pictured...

What do you guys think? I'm not too knowledgeable on old arms so wasn't too sure what I should be looking for accept making sure all the serial numbers matched, which from what I can tell they do. Accept no serial number on the glorified/ruined Mosin bolt because I guess it was ground down when someone decided to "refinish" the rifle. And I can't get the bayonnette to lock in place on the 1941 Czech VZ24 Mauser. So does that mean it's probably not the original bayonnette or could something be stuck...? I dunno!

Haha yeah its to clean for a Mosin so I'm definitely gonna use it! Just gotta find ammo for a reasonable price first... If anyone knows a good place to order 7.62x54R, 8mm or 7.62x38R nagant ammo please email me and LMK.
