The apparent lack of an emergency call interests me. How often do airliners go down without getting off a mayday? Well, it drastically depends on the nature of the emergency, and if they are out of radio range. The Blue- Gotta have HF to jump the ponds / open water. We talked to Stockholm for our HF ops checks and after bouncing off the ionisphere, not much outta range with that and VSAT |

Yea it was some kinda fucked up weird explanation. Water in the fuel, which iced up on the fuel filter and starved the engines. I once saw an estimated 8000 lb chunk of ice in a fuel tank before. We actually had to sit the airplane for several days to let the ice melt and drain out of the sumps. A 777 does not lose all coms and disappear at 35K, unless you're facing an explosive event. All cautions and warnings are transmitted to a data station in near real time. As far as the speculated 737 rudder reversal incident, that would be nearly statistically impossible. 737's used a combined uinit for the rudder actuator, the 777 has three separate and independent actuators. If you have one that disagrees with the the other two, first the ACMS logs the fault, and if the actuator is forcefull enough with a faulty input, there is a rivet that will shear in the bell crank assembly that will disconnect the faulty actuator from the flgiht control. |

Maybe something like that happened? |

Have to wonder if the terrorists would take a chance on pissing off the Chinese. I suspect the Chinese would not be quite as worried about 'human rights violations' etc in sorting out responsible parties.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that there was a J.P. Morgan Bank exec on board, or someone high up who had something to do with the MtGox bit coin exchange bankruptcy, or both.

This aircraft supposedly had some damage from ground collision with another aircraft. Wing damage I think.
Was repaired last summer/fall |

There was an Indian Airlines 747 that other aircraft saw have an explosion, roll inverted and go straight down into the Atlantic because of a bomb planted by terrorists fighting the Indian government in Ceylon. IIRC there was no claim made and it took an investigation to determine it was the Tamil resistance that did the bombing. |

Size of debris field will be rather telling of what happened, at least roughly.

View Quote I don't know that fundamentalists concern themselves with ramifications. That is something that politicians do. Do terrorists care that they are taking on a bully that can kick their ass? I actually think that is exactly who terrorists are going after in the first place.....they don't need to terrorize weaker parties...they can just defeat them. They need to terrorize stronger parties, because that is their only recourse. Not sure what is worse....dying prematurely because of a terror attack, or because of a flawed design or failure to properly maintain equipment. Death is death I suppose, but I guess if I could script it, I'd want it to be a little more epic that some guy screwing up a calculation in a cubicle in some office park. |

(I think that's how to describe it) |
