Russia has also refused to publicly condemn and call for punishment of those responsible for shooting the aircraft down, and their diplomats have avoided the issue each time it was addressed to them directly. Meanwhile, they saturate the press and all other possible fora with contradictory so-called "facts" in an attempt to obfuscate or to imply Ukrainian / US conspiracy, without actually coming out and saying it (they let their proxies in the Russian press do so, though). |

That would be more important if the Russians were trying to convince us of their innocence, whereas I think they are just trying to convince Russians of their innocence.
