Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Deny/Verify? Rifle range at MIT

A friend of mine just got back from visiting colleges and he tells me MIT has a rifle range, on campus. Any college students can verify this? Perhaps elaborate on why in the middle of the People's Republic of Massachusetts there's a rifle range on campus?
Boy, if I didn't need enough reasons to apply.

Yes, MIT has an NCAA rifle team. So do several other colleges and universities, but none with the same reputation for academics as MIT.
