It is still awesome.

I've got a pretty good sized army of Space Smurfs. I don't have the time for it, nor the money, and around me no one is trying to buy a fucking space marine army unfortunately.

I was really big into Warhammer for many years and actually passed on a web job offer from Games Workshop. I love the game and the lore but the thought of living in baltimore plus it didnt pay very well at all.

I am more into Warmachine and Hordes these days. It is much more affordable.

Concur on Gaunts Ghosts.  That series is what brought me to W40K.  "The Warmaster" is supposed to be out later this year, and I can't wait.

I have Eisenhorn and the Ravenor books and The TItan books - hell anything Abnett writes for warhammer is awesome.

I found this website.  I plan on getting some professionally painted sets for display and setting up some Blood Angel armies as we speak.  My sister is planning on playing so we'll nerd the fuck out at family get togethers.

If y'all haven't read Aaron Dembski-Bowen's night lords book, you should. Apparently, even Chaos Marines get tired  of the Khorne followers.

Might want to cancel that.  They are releasing either 6.5 or 7.0 in the summer that will add in a couple of books they've released since 6.0 was released and update some of the rules.

Get on ebay and buy the Dark Vengence mini rule book until then.  Has all the rules to play and none of the fluff you don't need unless you like the storyline.

I'll still use it as a table top book for reading.  All the lore and pictures are a plus for me.  Just getting into the table top game.

Files are all over the internet. Some are still on thingiverse, some torrented, some I made by pulling regular files off of sketchup's repository and then converting to stl/obj.  I've got a printrbot, with a .4 mm nozzle, I typically print at around 0.2 mm Z height, sometimes 0.1. Depends on the part and orientation. I've got some 0.2 and 0.15 nozzles I need to try, those can basically print so small you need a dang magnifying glass.

I think my next printer is gonna be a prusa i3. I really like the design of it.

Yep, I like the Eisenhorn and Ravenor books a lot, the first person perspective makes them really fun.  Same reason I liked the Ciaphas Cain books.

lol now that is funny

in other news I found a Pro Paint website that staffs former Games Workshop employees.  Slowing getting a Dark Angel army put together, actually not bad about $7 a unit to be painted.

As I understand Starcraft was originally supposed to be a licensed 40K game, but then got denied, but they went for it anyway with some slight changes.

Terran - Space Marines
Zerg - Tyranids
Protoss - Eldar

Me too.

I started reading 40K with the Eisenhorn Omnibus for very good reasons...  I love to read, I love sci-fi, it was LARGE and I was broke.  Since that was published in '03 or so I've read pretty much all of them.  It is a little like a mine field tho.  Some really good ones (seriously, anything by Aaron Dembski-Bowden buy right now) to good (the Ciaphas Cain books, but just the first three) to OK (most of the Gaunt's Ghosts) to "Holy God How Did These Words Arrive On This Page In This Order?" (Lord of Night, out of print at the moment).

The Heresy has it's up and down moments.  I'm a little pissed at the large format books for 15 bucks when they should be 7.99 trade paperbacks.

Check out Lexicanum if you want to know what something is, or who someone is.  Good wiki-style reference.

I like the Warseer Forums.  Some folks like DAKKADAKKA.  Both are good places to get "fluff", the background material.

Disclaimer:  I don't play the game or paint the models, but I do like the universe.  Carry on, FOR THE EMPRAH!!
