What a great quote

This was directed at Brandon Webb, The Navy SEAL who is running for the NRA board in 2015

He apparently threatened the guy who wrote it.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Brandon-Webb/133206330070032

A
nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot
survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable,
for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves
amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through
all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the
traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his
victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the
baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a
nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the
pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no
longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.

Marcus Tullius Cicero

Always nice to read that quote.

Webb seems to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Sure, the guy could write, but he was one waffling motherfucker.

This was linked on his facebook I watched the last video (I think it was the last) and it was all "reasonable restrictions" and shit!

And it appears Webb has written a new book.  Imagine that, a former SEAL writing a book.

Cicero was a power hungry opportunist that is one of the slimiest politicians you could ever imagine. That said...read about how he mastered the art of speech giving/ public speaking, fascinating stuff.

I politely disagree. Obama is a socialist Juggernaught, moving his agenda forward regardless of anything else. Cicero was a flip-flopper who spent a fair amount of time trying to belong to neither the optimates nor the populares.

Point taken, I was more referring to him being a power hungry, slimy politician who is somehow able to "speechify" to the point of being a cult-leader.

As far as quotable Romans go, I much prefer Marcus Aurelius. Cicero was all pomp and pretense with no substance. Marcus Aurelius was the opposite, his Meditations weren't even intended to be read by anyone but himself. Different eras and all, I know.

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one. - Marcus Aurelius

But the quote attributed to Cicero could fit obama well
