It's because Europe knows how to play us and use us to their advantage.

"Hey US, we want to do some good, but we haz no airlift or naval assets to get our stuff there. Guess we won't be going then..." Hook, line, and sinker.

We don't ask for transports to bring our troops into a hot area, out of a show of solidarity with our allies.

I hope it's a growing trend.  We've spent all the money on logistic capabilities, and our allies didn't.  Let us do the hauling and someone else's kids do the trigger pulling for awhile.

You want heavy airlift its either the USAF or the Russian "Airlines".  Take your pick.  The Birts have a handful of C-17's.  The French have nothing bigger than the Transall.  The A-400M is years away from an in-service date.

Airlift is one of the things we do very very well.

No, no. I would just prefer not to lose any friends in Africa, like I did in Iraq. That region ain't worth it.

We used our own airlines the last time we invaded Iraq.  We don't have nearly as much dedicated military heavy lift as we used to.

I like it after the war was over and the insurgents were warning their people by having houses blink their lights as armored columns rolled by on the streets. 3rd ID had enough of that, and starting shooting HEAT rounds through the front door.

It was actually wrong for us to support the UN's war against Katanga.  Unfortunately, we often seemed to be the enemy of the anti-communists and the friend of the communists on that continent; at least that is the impression our actions there give.  I do believe a USAF Globemaster was hit by Katangese AA batteries during the airlift of UN troops into Elisabethville during the fight for the city in December of 1961.

Or more likely. Sailing ships, and weeks of travel. Doesn't work as well for land locked nations.

Please tell me what kind of fucking point you are trying to make.  I know you like to do drive by postings with links that are remotely related to the topic at hand but explain nothing.   l know it helps you feel intellectually superior but it's getting old.

That article talks about what a shit hole Africa is and how poorly educated their children are.   We have dumped billions into Africa along with multiple other 1st world countries.   Nothing has changed there, and nothing will.   Why the fuck would we be involved in anything in Africa that is not of strategic importance?     This will turn into another Syria, Africa edition.   Let all of the Muslims and Christians kill the fuck out of each other.  Unless they attack one of our allies WHO GIVES A FUCK.

Either explain what you thought I meant, or what the fuck you were getting at.   Because I'm sick and fucking tired of your Pravda BS.

I'm sorry I'm not a fan of Africa, maybe I should hit up the next Communist rally that is held.

So when does zero pick the losing side in this "peacekeeping operation"?

How much cash will we give to terrorists?

I'm sure Pravda will have an article soon, that might answer your questions.

Oh look, see?  It's all the fault of France, the UK, and the US for turning on Khaddafi.  So, we already pocked the losing side.  Happy?

That's an ignorant statement.  Many things have changed in Africa, and a lot of positive steps have been made.  How often do you examine anything related to Africa other than a cursory look at one of the articles that is posted here, or on the mainstream media?

The US has an interest in the region for a variety of reasons, namely resources and the potential pitfalls for another collapsed state with militant Islam being a factor.
