The insurance companies have cancelled policies as of 12/31 for millions of Americans.

Obama's Exchanges were suppose to be ready, so people could purchase Obamacare-compliant policies, effective 1/01/14.
But the Exchanges aren't ready.

This is crazy.

Because the fucking press was busy blaming the shutdown on republicans.

When the republicans caved, it started becoming evident that no one any where could actually sign up for that fucking morons bull shit.

So here is my question, if it does somehow get delayed will all of our current policies still double or stay the same as they are now?

Right, again, enough of this fucking delay bullshit.

My premiums have already doubled, so yes, that just means 10 more years of getting fucked by health insurance thanks to the ACA.

FUCKING VICTORY!!!!! 10 YEAR DELAY!!!!! FUCK YES!!!!! Hundreds of thousands of dollars more over 10 years by me! VICTORY IS OURS!!!!

And in before the fucking retards that say "if it's so bad let if fail". They lack more braincells than any handicapped liberal that voted for this pathetic excuse of a "law".

The longer it's delayed, the easier to undo the shit if it gets repealed. I would love to see it shitcanned entirely, but I'll take delays now that'll make it easier to repeal when we have a realistic shot at passing such a bill, and getting it signed.

our government was intended to have a small federal government.

trying to get 300m people in 50 different states, each with their own processes and laws, on to a central ANYTHING is near impossible. shoddy at best.

unless you build something from scratch at the federal level like social security, you'll never reach your desired goal.

UNLESS, your desired goal is to crash a system, then this works perfectly fine.

I hope that this whole debacle sinks the democratic party so low that it never recovers.

I'm tired of all of these bleeeding heart types.

A pack of pissed off wolves (figurative) needs to be let loose on the American public for entertaining this nonsense in the first place.

if the mandate is delayed, and the regulators would let us change rates because of it, they would go UP from the already higher rates you're seeing now. the mandate (as weak as it is) is intended to get people who might otherwise go uninsured (i.e. the healthy) to pay into the pool so that the average member's claim cost (which is directly related to the average premium) is lower.

the mandate made rates lower than they would have been had everything except the mandate been kept.
Link Posted: 10/23/2013 3:35:47 PM EDT
Doesn't matter to me. BCBS already raised the rate 300.00/month and added a co-pay for my new affordable policy. Even if the ACA is repealed and abandoned the insurance companies will still charge the higher rates.

If zero wanted to lower insurance costs he would have shut down the lobbyists and allowed insurance companies to compete across state lines.
Link Posted: 10/23/2013 3:36:42 PM EDT
Lol, like they don't want to delay it. The best way to get what you want is to make your enemy think you don't want it.

The mandate is the only way any of it works. Without it, mooching assholes can just not buy insurance until they are bleeding out of their anus. Then they can get it, and cost us $2M.

So if you want to destroy the private insurance industry, by all means advocate delaying the mandate for 1 year or even more. It'll do a great job.

Then again, I'm for a sort of single payer coverage so go for it.

When that same idea is FBHO's or the Democrats: It is great, great, great!

Nothing new here...

Not true. Health insurance is a competitive business. Some company would lower rates to remove all the extra cost that was loaded in because of obamacare, and then they would win market share.

allowed insurance companies to compete across state lines.

people say this all the time, but it really wouldn't help all that much. where we need more competition is in the provider side. provider charges are the biggest driver of insurance prices.

The lefties were opposed to including a mandate from the start. They only included it because the forces that actually give a shit about the insurance industry surviving fought for it, because without it they would go tits up more quickly.

Rubio is part of it.
From my understanding, it just says that you won't pay a fine for not signing up by 12:00pm 12/31/13. They are just delaying the deadline date. All else will be the same.

the deadline isn't 12/31. it's 3/15/2014. You're free to go uninsured for the 3 months out of 2014. You only have to be covered for nine months in order to satisfy the mandate and avoid the penalty.

Uh, no.

The insurance companies have sent notices and dropped millions of people, effective 12/31. Mostly individual policies.
These people won't have insurance on January 1st.

that's not true.

insurance companies can't just drop people. they can cancel policies but at the same time they must offer a replacement plan that may (and in most cases does) have different benefits and different rates.

the only ones flat out cancelling coverage are carriers who are getting out of the business and exiting the market.
