"A flash mob on wheels took over Broadway in Manhattan this weekend. It became a skateway for boarders from all over the world. But the NYPD was not amused. YouTube exploded with video about an event known as the Broadway Bomb, a massive annual skateboard ride through Manhattan organized on social media. Some cars got trapped by the stream of more than 1,000 skateboarders, who say that dodging four-wheeled vehicles is just part of the fun. But it was harder dodging the NYPD, which had orange nets set up at key points and were ready with the handcuffs." |

Did they actually catch any of the little fuckers? They needed to go tazy crazy and start taking them out.
I applaud the officers on site….. They did not get heavy with the skaters or shoot anyone.
The Broadway Bomb is a great event. I wanted to go this year, but could not.

So a bunch of silly kids on skateboards is unnacceptable. Gotta net and arrest them on the spot. But a gang of violent dangerous biker thugs marauding through town pulling people out of their cars and beating them is ignored. Make sense
Actually now that i thik about the nypd didnt ignore the biker thugs. They joined in the fun. |

Well, I'm glad they can go heavy handed against a bunch of skateboarders. But God forbid they do something about mobs of violent bikers.
Lol the cops driving up and down Broadway looked more dangerous than the skaters
The expression "herding cats" comes to mind.
Looks like the cops were causing more traffic disruptions than the skateboarders. |
It looks like the police were causing a bigger disturbance and stopping the flow the vehicular traffic far more than what any skateboarders were doing.
Did you see that?
The Man caught right there on film, oppressin' and repressin'. |
I generally don't have much tolerance for bullshit like the motorcycle thugs, etc. but I don't have a problem with skaters getting their skate on. If they don't intentionally do something they aren't supposed to, let 'em have at it. Most seem like o.k. folks.

Skateboarders? Yes Thug Bikers? No
I guess they figure it's way safer to enforce laws on a bunch of kids than it is a bunch of bikers. |
Why would they waste one second trying to control those kids. Who cares? If they get hit and run over by a car it's their own fault.

Fuckin hilarious and the Benny Hill theme is icing on the cake.
So the NYPD held traffic for around 9 minutes?! I'd be fucking pissssssssed!

I could have stopped those skateboarders in that intersection with a simple 25 pound bag of pea gravel properly spread across the street.
Preferably do it at the end of a grade where they can gain some good speed. Watch them stall out and go flying. Guaranteed laugh, no arrests, stupid hurts, 87, fuarock Hell, do a proper salting of the road with sand even. They wouldnt enjoy their constant pushing against that much resistance. If they were dumb enough to persist on busy sidewalks then deploy the benny hill team. |

a bucket of pennies or pea gravel would work better than a flexible traffic barracade.

I am beyond the age/size where when i fall off something, at speed, I bounce. Nope... last time I did something stupid on a bike I almost broke my wrist. I learned on that day some basic rules of physics and bodies in motion. However my squishy body no longer conserves momentum when it departs from its means of conveyance. Nope, it wads up like a sack of potatos and skids/rolls/splats... I do however remember the days of riding a skateboard, and the not so fond memory of stalling a skateboard wheel on a pepple the size of a corn kernel only to go flying. I think it would be hilarious to see 10-15 dumb asses hauling ass down a hill and go flying at the sound of that classic non-rolling stalled skateboard wheel sound. |

for those of you supporting it, question, what if the skateboarders would have dented your vehicle in the process of the fun? or god forbid, one wrecks and then files an insurance claim against you because you hit them and your rates go up?
