My only experience with them is a couple mags through a buddy's work gun (Colt Commando) with an AAC can. I got bukakked with gas in the face. I would think some sort of 'gas buster' charging handle would be beneficial. All rounds fired were in F/A. Maybe semi isnt as bad. I dunno. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile View Quote Are you left handed by any chance? A gus buster will feed directly under your nose in my experience w/ that setup. |

IMO, the ar15 platform demands a tuned gas system for best suppressed shooting comfort.
In my case, I chopped a 20" rifle gas barrel down to 16" knowing that the setup would only run with suppressor mounted. It does so flawlessly with no excess fouling of the action/mag well or gas to the face. |

I didn't get far enough to have a 5.56 can, I got a 30 cal can instead.

I have a .22 can, a 9mm can, a 223 can and a 30 cal can.
The 30 cal is titanium. I fucked up when I bought the 556 can. It is heavy as shit, but it is pretty damned quiet. It is a YHM. As others have said. Buy titanium. It is worth the extra coin. Buy 30 cal and use it on everything. I have the Wilson Whisper. I'm really happy with it. I would buy it again. |

Always run wet... Hope no one here is new to (rifle) suppressors and takes your advice... I think he meant the gun, not the can. It is still BS because someone will fuck up their can. You can run a rimfire or pistol caliber can wet, but not a rifle can. |

Before today, I had absolutely no idea that .308 cans work with 5.56.
Good to know. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

If I had it to do over.
I would have a .22 can because, there is nothing better. I would have a 45 can because I could use it on a 9mm too. Plus, 45 with a can is the second most fun. I would have a 30 cal titanium can to use on rifles. |
|
In order of funnest cans first (using cans I own):
300 BLK SBR with subsonics. .22 pistol suppressed with a .22 can. .45 ACP suppressed pistol with 230gr subsonics. Suppressed bolt action. 300 BLK SBR with supersonics. Suppressed .223 AR. |
|
SBR your lower and buy a handgun can as well,
Thats what i would have done if i could do it again,, I got an spr/m4 and 762sdn6 my first go, now im waining on paperwork for my sbr and a 45 & 22 can |

If you're only buying one can get a .308 instead of a 5.56. This right here. Why is that? Can you use a .308 suppressor on a 5.56 rifle? Yes. Also, make sure its Titanium. Wilson Combat Whisper |

I wish I would have spent the extra ~$200 for a titanium can... Stainless steel is HEAVY on the end of a 16" rifle. Granted, I love my suppressor, but lighter would have been better. Also, don't breathe through your nose while shooting suppressed. View Quote Pretty much this. My AAC Cyclone .308 can on my 5.56 sbr is damn heavy. The cool factor outweighs all of the weight however. Don't think I would buy a 5.56 dedicated can though. Cost, plus time and bullshit paperwork is getting old, not to mention the $$$.$$. |
|
So I'm getting a few "lessons learned"
- .300 BLK and .22 / 9mm / 45 are more effective / "fun" to suppress - Suppressing 5.56 provides limited benefits, but is short of an amazing experience - If you get a 5.56 suppressor, get a .30 cal titanium can Right now I just have 5.56 rifles and several G19s. I don't plan on expanding anytime soon. Maybe I should just get some nice electronic Ear Pro |

Does getting a SF SOCOM762-MINI (.308) onto a SFMB-556-1/2-28 require a special adapter?
I'm looking to get a CAN, and given their price, a "multi-purpose" can would be nice. |

I have the coin to get both an M42K and a 762SDN6,a but I'm wondering if I should even bother with the M42K.

How well would a 30 cal can work with a 22lr ? From the way I understand it a 30 cal can is the "jack of all trades" in the suppressor world?

View Quote I believe that one uses the Surefire adapter. You can put the adapters on several gun which will allow you to swap the can between them easily. Like said, threaded cans typically start coming loose after several shots and require retightening. A locking type adapter system keeps the can tight so you don't have to keep checking and retightening, which gets annoying on a semi auto when you're shooting rounds in succession. I wouldn't mind a locking adapter system for pistols. Aside from that there is an advantage to a threaded can. They're more consistent for precision shooting submoa groups because there tends to be a small amount of slop or play in the adapter mounting systems. |

The must haves are a spectre II, a tirant 45 and a 762sdn-6.
I own sure fire as well but the AAC products have the best value performance combo. |

If you buy a .22 can make sure you can take it apart.
If buying a .223 can buy the .308 first and use it on the .223, only about 3-5 dbs louder. Rinse then repeat! |
