Funny story. Today my lead student on the base, caught three freshman fondling the ice cycles. He told them to knock it off, to which they replied, "who are you to tell us what to do."

My artist is at least 6'2" and probably over 200lbs. He's also kind of a scary kid to most of the other students. I was afraid he might beat the shit out of all three of the idiots. Luckily, he got a mean look on, and told them to get the fuck out of there, and they left.

We did prep a stand today to use at the state art symposium coming up in two weeks. Should be all ready, and hopefully we don't do too much damage getting it down there.

The wolf got a ribbon very quickly in the first round. Only 25% get ribbons, all blue. The blue sticker indicates a ribbon winner. We get the physical ribbons tomorrow. There was LOTS of interest in this project.

That looks great! Congrats to you and your students for the ribbon, too.

Hopefully none of the kids in the school damages them and respects the work put in.

(In regards to the students messing with the icicles, and also thinking to how much of the stuff in the High School I graduated from was damaged/vandalized in some manner)

There is, of course, some pretty amateur looking stuff, but there is a huge amount if very high quality stuff too. I'll try to get some shots tomorrow. People show up to this show and search out kids to buy stuff from to hang in their houses. The ceramics is simply amazing. There is one school in particular that has an amazing wheel thrown pottery teacher. The stuff the kids throw is out of this world. My wife has bought several pieces for our house from students over the years.

Funny you should mention pottery.

Most high school, or even professional, pottery is a waste of my time. And people ooh and aah over it like it's the second coming. But almost 20 yrs ago I went through the Edge of the Cedars Museum in Blanding, Utah. It's dedicated to the Anazai Indians that lived in that area a thousand years ago. There is one diplay case full of pottery that had been stolen from sites and recovered. Now that stuff was only two colors, black and white, but man was that impessive stuf! I sure could see how it would be hard not to let some of it follow you home.

But if you want to impress me then make your pottery look like theirs.

We got home about 7:15 tonight. Taco Johns needed to go all the way to Mexico today to make our lunch and took an extra 1/2 hour.
