our daughter had a friend that came from a very rich family that would be the first one to our house for sleep over weekends and the last to leave even though she lived in a mansion with its own bowling alley. One day My wife asked why she spent so much time with us and seem to never want to go home. She said she just had a house we had a home, I really wish I would have spent more time with her as later on her whole extend family was on a cruise ship and she jumped overboard.

I can tell her parents did a good job with her. Polite, conversant when we do talk. I rather suspect she is hanging outside because I am and she doesn't want to be rude. Just saw her text on a cell phone I hadn't seen yet. Probably complaining about the old guy smoking cigars.
Nah, both her parents smoke them too and she said she likes the smell. |

Proper training begins in the home, and since you are in loco parentis, I suggest that you have her make you a sandwich.
Seriously though, a great thing to do with kids is make dinner with them, and show them how it's done. I dunno, maybe she already knows this. My niece and nephew (9 and 11), think Uncle MotorMouth's pizza is the best pizza going, and they get to help me make it.

The coyotes just serenaded us for about 5 minutes... Lot of them out there. The two white tails about 200 feet away seen unphased.

This, my 27yr old wife has a 1/2 sis that is 13 from their dad, a 1/2 bro from their dad.... and then a 1/2 sis that is 12 and a 1/2 bro that is 8 from their mom. Well when the 12yr old came out to visit over the summer I was NEVER alone in the same room with her and when the 13yr old is around/ over same rule applies now mind you I have a 6yr old daughter and 3yr old boy but I will not take ANY chances with it as nuts as her ENTIRE family is. |

I have one friend who has falsely accused by a child, and I know of two other people whom I believe to be falsely accused. One of them was convicted because he is an idiot and was offered a "deal", the other was too flimsy of a case for the police to even be interested but it still destroyed his family and reputation. That is after he passed a lie detector test, and the police basically said there is no case here. The circumstances were very different than this thread but these type of things just go to show how careful one needs to be today. My friend was accused on pissing on a random child he didn't know at a wedding. There was no case at all he was waiting outside the bathroom for the kid to finish so he could have his turn. Never in the bathroom together. It was ridiculous, but he was still harassed by the detectives for a few weeks before the kid admitted he made it up. |

I was stuck babysitting younger cousins one time, years ago.
I let them all take turns playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It kept them occupied the entire time. Babysitting is easy! When my parents/aunts/uncles came back from dinner, one of my aunts gave me shit about it, ane my uncles wanted to play it too after seeing it. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Just told her if she would rather watch TV than hang out by the fire that was OK. She answered no, she didnt mind.
She picked cheese pizza.... Boring! Gorgeous night. Living in an urban area you forget about how nice a clear night is in the country by the fire. Crickets, bull frogs, coyotes, the bats flying over head on patrol. Parents called, they are on the way home. Guessing they should be here around 11. |
