I like the idea of Civil War era earthen star forts.
And having recently toured the Ypres battlefield, I also want it to be placed on a hillside to better observe potential enemies. Pity mortars would be out of my price range. Actually it is easy to build the mortar, the ammo is the expensive part. |

I've always found these to be a resonable option with few modification and the right location.

I like the idea . Old Fort technology. The engineering is simple and easy to maintain. In most important can be done on a budget
. you just have to scale it down to fit your needs. And the designs are readily available to fit any region and resources. |

It would be built into the top/side of a hill with 360 views and below the crest have a ring of punji pits along with tanglefoot barbed wire and sensors
A tunnel system would take me out to a hidden egress point at the base of the hill. Or just go buy one of the old ww2 German uboat pens |

It's also 90 degrees and humid all year long. I get prickly heat just looking at pictures of it. It's got isolation, though, and hammerhead sharks in the water. |

A hundred grand is no where near enough. That only gets me and a few close friends to Hawaii for a doozy of a TEOTWAWKI party. |

The best defense is to remain hidden in a place no one wants to go surrounded by likeminded neighbors. A $100K budget means a normal looking (but small) house that is hardened with concrete walls, firing ports, steel shutters and the like in a remote location with good soil/growing space, well water, aabundant fish and game.
Even the greatest fortress will succumb to a siege. The more valuable you look. The more sieges you will have to withstand. |

Well then, I add to my specifications a desalinization plant, solar power station, and hurricane proof air conditioned mansion inside the fort. We must also fit said sharks with laser beams on their heads. |

Not saying. County has less than 50,000. is 97% ethnically white and fertile soil. Nearest big city is 400 miles.

The building blocks
The land Make fort with containers. Put barbed wire along tops of shipping containers. Weld ends of containers together. Spend leftover money on guns, boolits, food, and womenz. |

1500SF earth sheltered home made of 10" poured concrete, reinforced with rebar, utilizing geothermal heat/air, and a deep well.
Extensive use of solar panels to power a battery bank. Backup diesel genset with "ample" supply of fuel. Needs to be on 40 acres, not 20. I can't tell you any more than that. Not that I've given it much thought. |

You'd do better earth sheltered for reasons of
Lower visibility (they can't come after you if they don't know where you are) Being a big target will be a BIG problem Better ballistic protection Better fire protection in case of wildfire or firestorm |
