Too bad none of the hostages are armed so they could shoot this guy in the back of the head while he's busy talking to police. |

No way, banks are gun free zones. Ha! I taught my first concealed carry class in a bank. But keep spoutin' your gibberish.... OK. I stand corrected. In MICHIGAN banks are gun free zones. Strrrrrrrike two1 MCL 750.234d(1)(a) prohibits a person from possessing a firearm on the premises of a "depository financial institution or a subsidiary or affiliate of a depository financial institution." Accordingly, a person is prohibited from carrying a firearm on the premises of a bank or credit union, unless the person is exempt. MCL 750.234(2) lists the people who are exempt from MCL 750.234d(1). The following people are exempt: (1) A person who owns, is employed by or contracted by, an entity listed in MCL 750.234d(1) if the possession of the firearm is to provide security services for that entity. (2) A peace officer. (3) A person licensed by Michigan or another state to carry a concealed weapon. (4) A person who possesses a firearm on the premises with the permission of the owner or an agent of the owner of that entity. Accordingly, a person who possess a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) may lawfully carry a pistol, concealed or non-concealed, on the premises of a bank or credit union. http://brighton.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/carrying-firearms-into-banks-illegal-with-exceptions Michigan for DECADES has had a "CPL" law in the books. In the way it was originally designed, if you handled "large amounts of cash" (I think deposits for a business that exceeded $500.00 per deposit...don't quote me because it as been years since this no longer applies) With that said, the original "CPL" law was enacted to allow "CPL" holders to make deposits into banks while armed. During that time, if you feared for your life it was not sufficient to get a "CPL"...restraining order or not.... And to the OP....everything is a machine-gun, Assault weapon and/or explosive device. I hope the hostages walk out unharmed and recover quickly. |

Hostage standoff inside rural Louisiana bank ends with gunman dead(CNN) -- The hostage standoff in St. Joseph, Louisiana, has ended with the hostage-taker dead, police said. Louisiana State Police shot and killed Fuaed Abdo Ahmed as they stormed the Tensas State Bank building, just before midnight local time, according to Col. Michael Edmonson. The two hostages, who were both shot by the gunman as police entered the bank, were rushed to local hospitals, Edmonson said. Police said Ahmed was known to police, and Edmonson described him as a paranoid schizophrenic. View Quote |

"He was mad at people he said were mean to him. He had voices in his head. One of the demands was he wanted to have his device implanted in his head removed. We made contact with the individual in Alaska who was able to get tat information to him. We believe based on that, the fact of getting him to to talk to his friend in Alaska was instrumental in releasing the hostage that was released."
