I need a good tool for drifting sights in a handgun.

I have poked around the internet and seen some nice stuff, but I would like some recommendations from the hive.

Tell me what you know!

Bad idea for night sights, many tritium vials have died this way.

I use my Bridgeport mill with the slide in the vise and a hardened rod in the chuck...

Correct.

I need something stable and universal.  If I wanted to smash things, I would just break rocks.  They are cheaper than tritium.

Padded vise...piece of 2 or 3 inch X 1/8 hard wood. Used that for over 21 years and yes on literally thousands of night sights with NO problem. Sight pushers are expensive tools that do not work.

Depending on the gun, you might not get it to move with a wood drift.  Would probably cover most and not be as likely to damage the vials, though.

Maybe not, but plenty of people have.   It takes a bit of finesse that some don't have...

To those saying don't use a pusher

I don't know any professional smiths who don't

Get the full kit.

Get specific movers for each gun type. Chance the rest, charge enough to cover the occasional foul up.
