I see people wishing he was in jail and saying that he is a traitor and that Obama needs to prosecute him or drone strike him
So he's a traitor for revealing that the government is spying on it's own citizens? Is it unpatriotic to not want the government spying on us? |
|
You really think that's all he did?
What rock have you been living under? |

View Quote If people accept what he did, they will have to reevaluate who they are and what they believe in and people hate being uncomfortable. If what he says is true, it's hopeless since both parties are responsible for this and accepting it means you have to get out of your comfort bubble. It's always been "it's the other sides fault!" But now, who do you turn to? It would also mean, you actually might have to do something other than vote.... ...and that's hard, so lets hate Snowden and use him as an escape goat for our own reluctance to get angry. |

Once the case against him is publicized, I'm willing to bet there are going to be a lot of supporters of his doing complete 180s. He is one of the worst traitors in our recent history and hanging is too good of an end.

I dont hate him and find the whole ordeal between Obunghole and Putin funny.
I still wonder if this administration wont make a swap for him though. I have no clue what all secrets he took with him and no one on here does. I do appreciate him telling us about the spying and stuff but I hope he doesn't have anything that will jeopardize our military members. |

He could of went to the press with it instead. |

There's a rumor he may have leaked other state secrets to gain favor with the nations he was seeking asylum from.
IF that's true... it would make him sort of a douche and hurts his credibility as a whistleblower. I don't believe that it's true though. Just more of the lies concocted by a reactive government to destroy his character and reputation. |

Remember that at least 10%, and probably more like 20% of posters on this site depend on government in one form or another for their paycheck... and some may respond accordingly.

There are a bunch of boot licking, freedom hating statists patriots on this board. And there was a story, that had to be true, in the mainstream media about how Snowden gave intel to the evil Chinese.
China+ Russia + North Korea = a smaller threat to my liberty than the Federal Govt. |

If Manning got away with it, why would Snowden be convicted? Serious question.

Because they suck Obama's cock and Snowden made Obama look bad.
Consider that, it's ok(according to "them") for Obama to fund Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood; organizations that have murdered American citizens, attacked an embassy and assassinated an Ambassador. It's also OK for the head of the DOJ to run guns to the Mexican Drug cartels which are responsible for the killing of US Border Patrol agents . |

I don't care if our government's enemies have our government's secrets. I respect Snowden. Guy has balls and did what he believed was right. Time will tell if he was right. Snowden leaked enough operational intelligence material COMPLETELY UNRELATED to anything having to do with domestic surveillance to warrant espionage charges.

So revealing the truth about our tyrannical government is unpatriotic? Pretty much sums up why I think every Snowden supporter has the IQ of an old sneaker. If he exposed the policy about spying on us and stayed inside the US and fought for what was right, he might be considered a hero. When he ran to China and Russia and made the choice every single day to buy his time there with our secrets and put real heroes at risk, he became a traitor who should be hung. I mean that from the bottom of my heart as someone who is 100% against the death penalty for anything but treason. There is more than one issue with this to consider when deciding whether to stand him on a dais and put a medal or a noose on him. |

The moralities and legalities of his actions, and those of the government's actions, are two topics, not just one.

"Why didn't citizens just sue the NSA to find out if they were spied on?"
Because they can't fight it without standing, and they can't have standing without showing they were spied on...by secret programs that won't provide that proof to people attempting to reveal them, as shown in Jewel v NSA. It's a legal catch-22, and previous leaks based on first-hand testimony and conventional oversight mechanisms failed to provide that. That makes attacking this whistleblower inextricable from supporting massive domestic surveillance. When all legal avenues to recourse are exhausted or sealed off, then like the founding fathers people will resort to less-than-legal remedies. |
