The Fords on average were lasting 200,000 for the gas and 300,000 for the diesel before we traded them in. The Chevies sucked. That said, recent Ford diesels were shit so we just bought gas trucks and saved $8,000 up front. Used both as worked trucks, as long as someone knowledgeable is doing the servicing they are always serviceable. |

Most likely he dropped the tranny when he shifted from D (dirt) to P (pavement). |

My transmission went out on my 2007 Z-71 at 73,000 miles,, the dealer had a new one installed in 3 days,,, it did not cost me a cent. They actually do honor the 100,000 powertrain warranty. Did mine anyway.

Does the computer controlling an Allison transmission "learn" like some other controllers do?
If so, I'm wondering if the sudden change in driving method (no load city driving to towing on the highway) might have been a contributing factor. |

Likely the transmission lines. They have been a issue for years. Non SAE hose so the crimps aren't correct and its not if they will leak but when. Do not replace with factory parts as the issue has never been fixed. Google duramax transmission lines (hoses) and you'll see what I mean.

Not sure if serious The Fuck you say? The hd pickups are the smallest vehicles that use an Allison. The 1000 is essentially a 2400 series with different gearing. The 2400is used in municipal transit busues and light dump trucks. |
