Got any 9mm? Not in Sparta. It's all just shotgun target ammo. We got in 25 cases of Remington UMC 9mm about a month ago (in KY at our main warehouse) and it was wiped out within a couple of days. |

Sweet! I love trap and skeet, way more fun that punching holes in paper.

Quoted: I know trap shooting isn't of huge interest to Arfcom, but it's a big part of our company (and my job). Last week, we were in Sparta, IL, getting the shell house set up for the Grand American Trap Shoot that starts in about 2 weeks. We received over 200 pallets of ammo on 17 different semi trucks. The total case count was just over 23,000, which is about 5.75 million shotgun shells. Nearly 300 tons of shotgun ammo in all. This is about 3/4 of the ammo, unloaded in the parking lot. At this point, some was already sitting in the building, and we were waiting on the last 2 trucks to deliver. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z70/gspankp/shell1_zpsfa2c9d1d.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z70/gspankp/shell2_zps15879a76.jpg The left 1/2 of this building is the shellhouse. It's probably about 6,000 square feet and we use nearly all of it. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z70/gspankp/9D9A522C-1F77-4589-9BE9-B59EBE1DEEA0-10350-000004464F449A70_zps818cf75d.jpg Here are a couple of crappy camera phone shots. We organize and stack the ammo by brand, and load (velocity, shot size, etc), then number it all to make it quick and easy to find. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z70/gspankp/5040795A-AB80-489A-B8B4-4A4EF791D8FB-10350-0000044685AD022A_zps054d9f21.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z70/gspankp/A2F388C7-0115-4019-AB43-7D71BA46A034-10350-000004467A95170A_zpsbd00fe68.jpg Once the ammo is in, we set up cash registers, hang banners, etc, and then we're ready to open. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z70/gspankp/BE747EE3-FADD-4701-9095-5D49A582849E-15243-000006AEB1F0EDE6_zps6b0cf3f9.jpg View Quote I'm just down the road, will be by this weekend to pick up any you want to donate to my cause. |

I'm one of those ammo-flippers that GD hates.... We've been doing it for 40 years... No 3 box limit though on this stuff. Quoted:
No questions but... damn! Eta: it kind of ruins the thread when you explain everything. Agreed, but I hate the "Ask a guy" threads that are just completely vague and it feels like pulling teeth to figure out what's going on.... Quoted:
Did anyone actually count it? I mean, trust but verify, yo! Obviously, we don't count the individual rounds, but we do inventory it all. Count the pallets as they come off the truck, and then count the cases on each pallet once they're unloaded. Very rarely, we will cut open a case or individual box to find that it's been shorted. But it happens when you're pumping out millions of rounds a day at the big ammo plants. Quoted:
Any .380 or .22 ? Nope. Not here, or in KY. That stuff just trickles in. We have about 5 pallets of Winchester 555 packs on order, and Winchester will ship us 1-2 cases a month. It's insane. They won't fill the entire order at once. It just gets spread around to everyone, little by little. |

Sweet Jesus. Gunna burn through that in how long? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes The shoot runs from August 2nd to August 17th, so about 15 days. We overstocked a little just to be sure we have enough, but I'd say 80% of it will be gone by the end of the Grand. Quoted:
Damn, that's a lot of lead. Does it get reclaimed? At some point it will. This is a fairly new complex (opened in 2006), so I don't think they've had a reclamation project yet. But they probably will within another 3-5 years. Most big clubs will reclaim about once every 10 years or so, depending on how much they're shooting. Quoted:
Has DHS tried to ball your entire stock yet? Not yet. I think they're focused on hoarding the 22LR and 30-06 right now. Quoted:
shouldve built an ammo fort of biblic porportion Next year, I'll try to schedule delivery a week earlier, so we can build a real ammo fort for a few days before we have to sell it.... |

In before pictures are stolen and reposted elsewhere claiming to be NSA's hollowpoint ammo!

I'd tape shotguns to my hands and use them for everything.
Closing the garage door, killing flies, making smoothies, turning off lamps, sledding on flat ground, jiggling the handle on the toilet, mowing the lawn... Endless fun. I'd stop fapping though. |

Grrrr... all that priming compound and lead wasted on shotgun shells.
But seriously, that much ammo at once is always cool, and Gamaliel fuckin' rules. |
|
Where's the rest of it? 17 trailers can hold at least 374 pallets, assuming 48' trailers and 40"x48" pallets.....

If only all that lead, brass, and powder had been used to make .22lr.
You could have bought your own country!

THATS WHAT SHE SAID ETA: Quoted: Quoted: I'd thought it'd be bigger. Really That's what she said! That's what she said! Wait.... A full pallet is anywhere from 104-120 cases, and weighs between 2600-3000 lbs, so you can only fit about 14-16 per truck before you're overweight. Not all of the trucks were completely full, but most of them were. |

Now "THAT" is an ammo fort !
