No reason for everyone to hear your conversation about "scoring some bud"
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 11:03:13 AM EDT

I don’t know but it annoys the hell out of me…

One of my co-workers always does this and I can never make out what the hell he is saying over the background noise.

Every time he calls or answers the phone he has it on speaker in the middle of a construction area… and every time I have to tell him to take it off speaker so I can hear him and not the bulldozer.

Errbody need a boo toot.

I use speakerphone because it's easier to type and mouse if I'm not scrunching the receiver between my head and shoulder. I don't do phone support often enough to warrant the cost of a headset.

I use speakerphone in the car and at home, but not in public. It bugs my wife sometimes, but I'm trying to avoid getting a brain tumor

I am going with no brain tumor

I do it sometimes to hear what the other person on the line is saying.

They figure the NSA is listening in, so why not let everyone else in on the fun?

If you're going to share with one person, make sure you bring enough candy for the whole class right?

Granted, this is Iowa, but I don't know if I can recall the last time I heard anyone in public user speakerphone on their cell.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 11:13:11 AM EDT
Because they are assholes or attention whores. Take your pick.

One of my pet peeves. The stewie clip is spot on.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 11:15:58 AM EDT
so they can let everyone else know that they are not a complete loser ,that there is someone on the planet that will actually take their phone call and converse with them.

I love the "I'm going to fucking kill you" look on his face...
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 11:19:35 AM EDT
I use it all the time at home and in the office. Never in public. I cant hear shit in my truck so I dont talk while im driving.

PSA: Joining someone else's conversation is frowned upon but fun to see the reaction.

Never been a fan of speaker phone. Even when I had Nextel, I always turned off the speaker for direct connect conversations.

My wife does that shit at home and it pisses me off. I think she does it purpose.

My boss uses speakerphone on a phone call to someone 2 cubicals over. You can hear the conversation in stereo.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:17:45 PM EDT
i hate it when people have those damn bluetooth earpeices in.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:19:00 PM EDT
I had to for a week, because my ear piece speaker stopped working. It was annoying as all hell to deal with.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:20:58 PM EDT
I do it because I don't like having my phone up to my ear. However, I don't do it when people are around.....I'm too secretive. I know it's nerdy, but I do like some Bluetooth......
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:21:25 PM EDT
So, did he get the bud and did you hear a price?
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:23:18 PM EDT
I just found out how to use it on my phone a couple of months ago. Total use = 1

Annoying as hell to be around and when I'm talking to someone who is using theirs, I can't hear a damn thing they say. I'll hang up on anyone who doesn't take it off speaker when I ask them to. "What? Huh? Sorry, what was that? Uhh, did you say chicken motor saws? Could you just take me off speaker?"

Same reason people walk around in public listening to music on their phones.

No respect for people around them.

Cuz I'm on an Engineering Change Proposal confrence call.

Do you know what I really hate? That my phone from 2005 had a speakerphone feature that I could put it in the middle of a 6-persont table and have 6 people sit around it and have a telecon with another group. It was great for being out in the field at a site and calling in to discuss progress or what we ate for lunch, etc. For the last 5 years, I haven't been able to find a smartphone worth a shit for that feature, the iPhone was one of the worst offenders, you had to point the thing at your face from 6" away to both hear and be heard. It was like Apple intentionally designed it so you'd have to hold it in such a way that everyone could see you were using an Apple product.

If you are in public and having a conversation on speakerphone, you are a douchebag.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:34:02 PM EDT
Because of stupid hands free laws... Can't hold the phone up to my head while driving, so it has to be on speakerphone.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 12:37:02 PM EDT
I never noticed that. The curiosity I have is the addiction to cell phones. Everywhere I go people are constantly talking to someone or texting.
People just can't be alone with their thoughts.

I'll admit to probably being a little too fond of my phone, but I do try to make it a point to stay off the damn thing when out with my wife. Especially when dining.

It's just sad to see a couple barely interact with one another at a restaurant. Even worse when you see a whole family pecking away at their devices, tearing themselves away only to place their order.

People are inconsiderate assholes.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 1:04:52 PM EDT
I've seen people with the phone to their ear and still have the speaker on.
Link Posted: 7/22/2013 1:16:22 PM EDT
If I'm talking to someone that has put me on speaker, I just start cussing, loudly. Works most of the time.

Cool feature, must use.

If the phone had a feature that blew bubbles when it rang, people would use it.
