I've been thinking about giving my AR, my first and only gun, a name. Why you ask? Why not, I reply. But I'm not sure what criteria to use to really "name" such a weapon, so I've narrowed it down to this, tell me what ya think: At my next Hard Rock Shooters competition (the first I will be entering) down here in AL, I will probably end up naming it with the first letter of the final standing I ended up with. I.E., "N"inth place, name starts with N....just a thought. Now I need your advice on: 1.) What makes a good, appropriate name 2.) What other criteria can be used to produce said name 3.) Am I overly fixated on the naming process, and should I just buy a dog instead? [:\] The Jew~

How about Elefteria, thats greek for "freedom" and also a girls name in greek, used to know a real fine girl with that name back when I was a teenager, man she was a hottie! Met her at the Greek festival, she was a dancer, and i was a wine taster..[}:)]

well my first AR that I ever used, back in 83 at Fort Jax, was called POS. You could not get the pivot pin out...with a hammer....but it sighted well so I kept it...it was so old that there were a lot of zero's in the serial number. Now my first that I own is called the beast, in contrast to my 10/22 beauty

Oh geez, that's a funny topic. Whereabouts in AL do you have these shoots, Jewbroni?

How about "phardhtwynd"? That's also a koine greek term. It means "warm fetid air". If I met a girl named Phardhtwynd... I'd run!

Jewbroni, this really is a question for a psyciatrist. Do you have one?

I live in Auburn, AL. The shoots I'll be doing will be in Society Hill Alabama (Hard Rock Shooters competition), and Ft. Benning Georgia (Hard Rock is affiliated with them).

A Psych? Oh come now, I named my hamsters, my rabbits, and my other pets. And now that I got my first piece (and what will probably be my "only" for a while, until I get a real job), I figured what the hell. As far as a shrink, I'm not that mentally ambiguous.

You would only need a shrink if the jelly donuts were chasing the hot dogs.

No, as any shrink will tell you people who analyse dreams are normal. It is the ones who pay $100.00 an hour to listen to someone else analyst their dreams that I worry about.

C'mon guys, the answer is obvious: Charlene!!! Or you may want to pick a name more in line with your heritage. Sarah is a fine and distiguished name. But I think Esther may be a more poetic choice.

Name it "Sting". The famed elven short sword of Frodo in The Lord of the Rings, and from what they say 5.56 stings a mite. Mine is called Sting.

Name it Diane or Hilary. It makes alot of noise and hates other guns. If it has a collapsable stock name it Madeline Albright.

This is too weird. Most of my buds think I'm nuts for naming my special "Toys". My 77MKIIVT(gone now,but not forgotten)Was Taarna. My Current bolt .308 Tactical is named "Margie",after the only woman statesman that ever knew how to deal with punks and criminals. My Ar? "Lucretia II" She's beautiful, viscous, can be tempermental if fed a cheap dinner, murderous yet forgiving to those she finds acceptable, has a lineage to those that defend the faith, yet a bastard, and finally has murdered in the uncountable numbers of varmints using guile and wit. It's a natural. There was a "Lucretia the 1st", but alas she had to be turned in before PCS. I also have a "Rosemary",and a "Inga",to keep Lucretia company, but they don't speak the same language. Nice to see my psychosis isn't a singular case! Cheers! E4E

How about "Arielle" kinda cool because of Ariel Shirom and the fact that starts with "AR" I think you should go with my suggestion--really...OK?
