Just received my NRA American Hunter. It reads that he passed away in his sleep in April. Many of you have read his articles, and still others have seen him on TV.

He was young.

Any word on actual cause of death. Too young to pass away in his sleep.

I think he died in his sleep. Cause is unknown.

I hunted with him for 2 weeks while he filmed a TV show. I was his guide for a Lion hunt. When I first met him the first day, I asked him what our show was about. he said it was about a new and almost unkown caliber..

I said "6.8 SPC?"

"Ya how did you know?"
"Been hunting with one for about a year"

he was pretty suprised.

Super nice, he called me when he came thru town a couple years later. One of the best. There is no mention anywhere of cause of death, onlly that he died in his sleep. You can draw your own conclusions from there. I used to text him once in a while with a gun question and he was always quick to respond. He will be missed and never replaced in the writing and gun community.

OP says "J. Guthrie" and she was the first person who came to mind.

She's at an age where an obituary would be less suprising.

His pen name was "J". Turns out it stands for James.

I heard about his passing awhile ago. I never met him, but everyone I know who has had nothing but good things to say about him. I only knew him from his work and everything I saw I liked.

On another note, the guy who shot his friend was acquitted.

Terrible. I liked the show he did with Dick Metcalf. They had a good chemistry. RIP J.
