And to answer your question.....yes, fire absolutely burns in high humidity. Typically, in places like the south, the plants have an flammable properties that will burn in wet (like plant produced "oil") or very low oxygenated states (like underground). Spent 3 hellish weeks in a Florida swamp deal with that BS, those fires will go for months. Nature needs fire, and always finds a way. |

I've fallen in love with the Okefenokee though I've never been there, because one of my best friends loves that swamp and has a series set there. I hope to visit with her this fall. A couple of her stories revolve around the fires that have burned large portions of the swamp, which is exactly the kind of thing you're talking about. If she ever does another book about HotShots, I might put her in touch with you. I'm particularly interested in the peat fires--the ones that burn underground as well as the ones that smoulder just below the surface. That's just freaking fascinating. And scary as hell. |

I had a themed song collection to post for Mauser.
Should I wait? Or should I post in case he has a way to see it? OnTime, do you know if he has any internet at the hospital? Probably not video worthy even if he does. |

I do have some direct experience there, fighting swamp fire is.......different. And peat and root fires are freaking miserable. Talk about frustrating And the 700° boobie traps they make...your just walking along and bam, ground collapses and you have 3rd degree burns up to both thighs. I think the swamps are kind of pretty, especially for someone growing uup in an area with little to no WateR. And alligators are fun, from a safe distance Hope you get a chance to head down and see her there. |

I did OSUT from starting in late April , by August it was pretty sporty at Benning. We had a local kid in my platoon, from Columbus. He was really getting a kick watching us all suffer. |

It made me really sad to lose those original old cars, though I don't drink the Corvette Koolaid. GM has done a lot for our town as far as good jobs and being a part of the community, so there is that. But I have some kind of weird thing for old cars and trucks. I don't own any--have no garage space and don't have the wallet for it--but it's almost like they have souls in a way...if that makes any sense? |
