No. I have a lot of first aid/first responder training and know more than I'm required about a lot of this just because I'm good at science and anatomy, but nurse is not my calling. Mostly I've just spent a lot of years with a guy in the medical field (I could probably do a fair job of x-raying somebody) and with many, many friends who are docs, physician's assistants, nurses, etc. A good number of people who go into SAR work are in some kind of medical field it seems. |

You are a good guy, arming those kids. especially the girls. That speaks well of you. Frankly, developing the attitude is more important than the hardware. They all have killed and cleaned poultry. I have bought them all their own hatchets, and we clean and burn brush. They know what life is, and what it costs others. No illusions here. That's exactly it, and a lot of people don't get that. They will be common -sense kids because of that. It's also clear they like and respect their grandpa. Time spent with you will be a lot of what teaches them to think when bullshit gets spoon fed to them for the next few years at school and by society. |

I was playing floor hockey in high school, I was a ok goalie. I kept my eye on the puck, as someone slap shot the ball from about 12 feet away. I had no time to react, and took it straight in the eye socket. I drop like a sack of shit, holding me eye. PE teacher comes running up and goes "Oh shit,is it your eye!?!?! 
No bitch, I just like rolling around on the ground, clutching my eye.

Cool, Eaglet turned 6 in Feb. I was at a hockey game one time, Biloxi playing Pensacola, there were a couple errant slap shots that rang off the wall up near the nose bleed seats. They got there in a hurry too, sounded like a cannon when they hit the wall. |

He was waiting to get paid in a couple of weeks, to send in the $50 check to get the rifle in the queue. So for Christmas that year, I mailed in his order form (it already was filled out with what he wanted) with a check. That was his present. But I wanted to have something under the tree...so I splurged on a box of .45-70 ammo. The damn thing was just a few rounds and cost $20 for the box. I wrapped it with a copy of the check and the order form, and that was all he got that year. Yup, that was a long time ago, and I don't ever want to be that poor again.

For anyone who might try a little long range big bore shooting. Don't forget the H&R handi rifle.
$340 or so and can be fitted with really long range sights. Before you break out the big bucks for a Sharps. That kind of shooting is really fun though. Now I am all hung up on long range big bore shooting. Who started this, some trouble causer I bet.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been freaking out because I was looking at the budget and couldn't see how to make it work, and he would say, "We'll be okay. It will work out." And he was always right. Whether the money was there or not, it always worked out. Something came along to fill the gaps. I've managed the money for most of our years together, but he was--and still is-- the one with the faith that we would make it. That makes it sound like it's always been good, and it hasn't. We've been separated, slept in separate rooms, contemplated calling it quits...I can't tell you how many times. But here we are. Every couple has to find how it works for them. But you are right. Getting through hard times teaches you things you don't learn any other way. There's an old country song with a line that says, "Love grows best in little houses.." There's some truth in that. I don't ever want to be that poor again but I'm glad I understand how to be that way and be okay. It's how I learned that they're not going to come and put me jail if I'm a few days late for a payment, and it's how I learned that the bank really does not want my house. Yeah, my credit score might take a hit, but you know what? You can't eat a credit score. I have a good one now, but there's a real value in understanding that you won't die from a bad one. |

Yeah she's not bad for a Hawaiian chick that had never held a gun before I met her When she finishes up her masters and I figure out what I'm going to be when I grow up we will have to make things a little more official.
